Highly recommend "A Discovery of Witches", a three season TV series, about an Oxford Professor, who also happens to be a witch. It's also got vampires and demons. Seasons 1 and 3 are in current times, but season 2 is set in the 16th century. Based on the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness.

‘Gothic’ is another great rendition of the Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein theme with an all-star cast. Saltburn checks all the boxes but it genuinely disgusted me. I mean beyond the limit of being able to enjoy the plot or the great acting.

"The Theory of Everything" is a really good DA film about the life of Stephen Hawking. The setting takes place in the 1960's at Cambridge University.

And a musical comment from me. Most DA playlists are AI generated quiet studious music. Not this one. Most of the artists here have done other things that fit the DA theme well; I've tried to pick the better tracks. Here's a DA Top Ten - 10 - Places of Light - Brainticket 9 - Nights in White Satin - Moody Blues 8 - Starless - King Crimson 7 - Eye in the Sky - Alan Parsons 6 - Moonlight Shadow - Mike Oldfield 5 - Sleeping Sun - Nightwish 4 - The Musical Box - Genesis 3 - Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush 2 - Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen 1 - Vienna - Ultravox

Artemis 81 was an obscure, and very difficult, Anglo-Danish production with a very famous performer in a small role. This is a supernatural movie with a grad student protagonist, and the main antagonist is a musician; depression and suicide are important elements. The music of Danish composer Carl Nielsen is central to the plot - "A double flat is a natural". He is the ultimate DA composer - really difficult and heavy, with themes of life and death (start with Symphony #5). The movie is available on KZfaq, but not the greatest quality.

Ours here in maryland is amazing and we usually wait to go until October when it’s more cool. Going when it’s blazing hot at the very end of summer sucks

A vintage milk glass schoolhouse pendant in a Deco shape would look phenomenal in there. I'd paint the piece on the opposite wall (the candleholder) gold. I actually liked the gold velvet curtain. You said it looked too circus-y but I always associate the 20s.and 30s with circuses (think "Water For Elephants" aesthetic.)

The thing is, yes it's crazy packed in october, but that is when everyone there is dressed up in costume and it turns into like a real life Halloweentown, they do live reenactments of the trials, and street performances, it really is cool but the rest of the year its just a historical town

You say you prefer the history, yet you're dressed the way you're dressed. Very contradictory. Also, most RenFaires do not allow patrons to hand out anything and security will escort you out. I like that you tell people to ask questions! But to join a wedding?! Make sure it's pretend because many RenFaires only have REAL weddings taking place! I truly appreciate you did tell everyone to wear natural fiber!! Many faires will not allow weapons, even peace tied. Check ahead. You need to come to the Bristol Renfaire.

Change your major in college from Political Science to anything else, e.g., English or Sociology. One of my few good decisions. btw, the best classical music piece ever composed is "Scheherazade" by Rimsky-Korsakov.

I went to my first ren faire in April, it was great! I made our costumes the week before, all hand sewn, and I don’t even actually know how to sew I was almost entirely winging it. It worked out great though! And fortunately our friends were running a booth so we sat with them the entire time. We missed some events but it was overwhelming so just sitting with friends and chatting with new people and being able to browse some booths was fun enough for my first time

You are so awesome. I went to my first ren fair with a friend from work like 20 years ago near charlotte, NC and got hooked instantly. Then continued going multiple times a year first with my wife ( wasn't her thing ) then with best friends, then with my 5yo son, then with son & younger daughter after my divorce, just completely falling in love with the whole experience. I kept going every year for like 15 years straight all to the same one in Concorde, NC which I would say was pretty big and too much to properly take in in one day bc of all the amazing shows and the jousting would be 3 times daily but all different shows progressing in intensity to the final joust to the death so you kinda had to go to all 3 jousts to get the best experience. anywho, I've been living in another country for the past 5 years with my son and daughter and mother where the ren fair does not exist. Just saw you for the first time ever a few weeks ago and fell in love with your ren fair vids and looked up all of them and made them favs so I can see them all in chronologic order. You have an amazingly authentic and believable feminine elven look which adds so much to your ren fair vids. Don't know how or why the first video of you popped up but I'm so happy it did bc you are the next best thing to actually going to the renaissance festival. I miss going so very much. Sorry for the long comment but I'm just so excited. Thank you so much, please make more !!!!!!!

I started going to the Ren Faire in 1978 with my mom. The last Faire I went to was in 2014. For me, it went too far acceptable to wear non period or even correct era fantasy outfits, ie LOTR's style. That's me being nostalgic for the OG Agura Hills Faire. I never minded those who were not dressed but I saw Star Wars characters for Peetes sake.. and I love SW but come on.. I do agree that for the most part, everyone is really great to hang with. Just nice people having fun. Btw, you look great with your character.

For future reference those long billowy products as long as their made of a natural fiber are actually much more cooling then for instance a short sleeve shirt. They keep the sun off your skin which lowers your temperature and wick sweat. I know it seems counterproductive that long sleeves and pants on a hot day would be cool, but it really is cooler so long as it’s a natural fiber.

well I learned something, I did not know that this even began in CA. Now I know. I've gone to the one in my state (MA) a few times and while I'm big into these, have played D&D since the Red Book, I've never dressed up and never had an issue. I think you can go alone though, I do, I also go on vacation by myself. I am a huge introvert and I still enjoy myself. Every so often I can include myself into things. So to those fellow introverts I say still go, enjoy yourself, it can still be fun. Have you ever been to King Richard's here in MA? I was surprised at just how large it is.

Ah yes, the sixteenth century in Merry Old England...when knights were bold. What is the attraction of anti-modern settings? We all long for something better. Personally, I am of English decent and when asked the eternal question, "if you were in a time machine, would you go into the past or the future." For me, sixteenth century England would be something to experience.
