Trends are so fleeting it's pointless to take them too seriously. I'm 43 and have been doing the vintage English cottage aesthetic since i was about 13 and have no intention of changing my style now haha. Stick to what you love, make your home your sanctuary, and you'll never regret it ♥️

Exactly! You got it right. I have a friend who made their house farmhouse with an Interior Designer and I watched a video that said that trend was out and remember thinking… oh no, what if they see this and rethink their whole house 😭😭

Thanks for saying that we don't need to follow trends. I get so tired of decorators who tell us that we "have" to do something, or "need" to get rid of outdated things. I'm like, "why is this stranger who doesn't live in my house telling me how I should decorate?" Tips on things like space and dimensions, such as you listed later, is fine, and helpful, but when someone tells me to totally change my space because it's not trendy drives me crazy.

I know!!! It also drives me crazy. And it’s not just interior design where this happens, it’s also with the way we dress. It’s like, just let people be themselves please

As I've stated on other of your videos, if you have had an idea in your head for at least a year, before moving on it, it's probably an idea that's there for good. Let the ideas simmer for a good while to make sure it's not just a spur of the moment thing. For instance: my living room is very long but narrow, and has some weird cut corners, making a regular couch too big for the "nook" where I wanted it. So for about a year, I researched how to go about it, and ended up making a pallet couch that follows the length of the wall perfectly. I wanted a chair for a reading nook, but refuse to buy retail, as chairs are ridiculously expensive. Finally one day thrifting, I found exactly what I was looking for, for 7 dollars. So, basically, if an idea is lingering for a good while, it's probably safe to go with it.

We're building our home at the moment so I'm starting to think about all this stuff, but it is WAY more difficult when you don't have the restraints! I'd love my office space to be quite gothic Victorian with vampire vibes lol, but I also love Art Deco and all things spacey. I need to find a way to combine everything I love to create the room of MY dreams. It is super exciting though! I loved your recent Gryffindor room make-over...that gave me food for thought too! x

I don't like curtains or mish-mash rooms and such. I think a lot of people sort-of take whatever furniture comes to them through almost unexpected sources, so this is how people end up with more things than they need that they don't exactly know how to eliminate. I don't know how many of them started with a Mood Board or whatever, but that's a pretty recent thing, right? I used to get catalogues for the kinds of furniture I REALLY wanted, but it was all so far out of my price range that I would likely have a Ferrari and a much bigger house already or something. Of course, I guess I'm not the best one to listen to because SOMETIMES I want an elaborate space and other times I want a bare area, which especially in summer when it's hot and I don't even WANT blankets, much less trying to figure out where to store a comforter quilt or something. The main problem for music collectors and stuff is that it SHOWS your interest fine but just becomes clutter when CDs don't look good on conventional bookshelves, etc. I already mentioned paperback books in the previous vid, too. And winter clothes.....

Hi ,I just have to ask,the sheet you have hanging on the wall.its just perfect. But I was wondering if there is a lable on the sheet somewhere that might be a glue where it originally came from.I found curtins that are so close to that pattern.I rent and can't paint. If I could find few sheets like what you have hanging on the wall It would be perfect.I realize I'm asking alot, but I had to try.Love your channel. I have learned alot of great ideas. Thank you so much for sharing and for any help you can give me.💐🦋

I know someone commented once saying they had the same one but I can't find their message 😭 I wish you luck in finding some cute vintage sheets and thank you for being here 🥹

Honestly there's no point, especially if you're on a budget. When you're sourcing everything for as little as possible by the time you actually finish your projects that trend is no longer cool. I just focus on finding things that are quality and that I like.

Agreed. I'm on a budget, and I've had the same ideas in my mind for years, but can't afford to act on it all at once. So I take one thing at a time. Like for instance I wanted a chair for my living room, but I'm frugal and didn't want to spend 300 dollars on a chair. Instead I took my time, and one day I being at the thrift store I found a beautifully carved wooden chair with some beautiful egg white fabric with golden embroidery. For 7 dollars. Same goes for my chairs for my dining room table. Found four chairs in almost the same wood colour and embroidery as my 7 dollar chair for 29 dollars.

Re: justlanchen's reply- yeah, she's watched all those things, but she's quite modest, because it takes a sharp mind to put it all together in a succinct "no filler" 14 minute video. I've seen 1.5 hour long vids that aren't as good and take far too long to get to the actual points that she did.
