Labour by moving to the right to attract moderate Conservatives has alienated a significant portion of its base, (The treatment of Abbott and others has also alienated many.) When Labour win the election, they will find that votes borrowed are less dependable than the core support that they have alienated. The Left? What is the left now? The Labour leadership are viewed as red conservatives by many labour moderates. I'd say they are more like the Lib dems in attitude. What i find strange is that as the labour leadership lean to the right the nation, as a whole ,is leaning more to the left especially concerning nationalising utilities and railways.
