I cut firewood with my fathers uncle and we did all kind of ranch work also. I saved my money to buy my first muzzleloader for my 16th birthday in 1976 (my dad was with me) it is a TC Seneca in .36 caliber and I still shoot her. My youngest grandson will get her once I go to the happy hunting grounds. Great video young man and I subscribed.

Good job young man. When I was a couple years older than you a half a century ago (the late 70's) I bought a used TC Hawken like that that only a 45 cal from a friends dad who had not finished it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I had to make my own possibles bag but I do have my grandfather's powder horn that is very much like yours. Of all the shooting I have ever done I think I enjoyed that as much as anything. In a year or two I will teach my grandson to shoot it just like you. Will be looking forward to seeing and sharing your loading video. Thanks.

Those older T/C rifles were real good guns. Renegades, Hawkens, and my personal favorite, the White Mountain Carbine. I still have it and always will. Real good shooter and easy to handle. I finally jumped on the "Inline" after they were out for a while. I bought the Black Diamond XR. Accurate, but pain in the butt to clean with a scope on it. Then I bought the Omega, and loved it. It was very accurate (under an inch) at a hundred yds. with 360 gr. bullets and sabots. I will not part with it either!

My Carbon rival factory test target shot a .223” group. 300 PRC. Heck I can’t even duplicate that tight of a group yet. But it’s for sure a solid 1/2” gun no doubt.

Laughing at 308 180 grain to the 300 WM 180 grain comparison. You should do a video comparing the 2 out of a 20 inch barrel. Ammo recommendations for the test, Buffalo Bore, Norma and Nosler.

Search “Hill Country rifles 7PRC barrel length”. 7PRC is actually fantastic at 20 or 22 inches. Nothing in lower 48 you couldn’t kill easily to 600+ yards at those velocities.
@theprfesssor3 ай бұрын
7 PRC is a Magnum cartridge, yet it's quite challenging to find a factory rifle with a barrel longer than 24in I actually hope Hornady is pushing the shorter barrels, The cartridge it's not getting to the advertised velocity's and why they are gimping this cartridge indont know

I’ll take the velocity loss….. that’s not bad. I actually had the same rifle being built by fierce 20” barrel ct rival I cancelled the order and went with Bergara. I may change to 20” barrel.
@JohnbobonАй бұрын
What factors made you switch to the Bergara? I'm leaning toward a Fierce CT Rogue, but i haven't made up my mind yet.
@xfighter1117Ай бұрын
@@Johnbobon honestly they kept pulling my chain said it was a 4month wait time from fierce which I was fine with. After the 4months they pushed it two more months after that two more which was going to be December so past my hunting season which I really wanted that rifle for a hunt I had last year. so I cancelled cuz by that time a lot more manufacturers were producing rifles in 7prc. I looked a lot almost all off the shelf rifles. I really just wanted a simple mountain gun and always shot Remington 700 stocks well and it checked all the boxes I did out a adjustable cheek comb on the which I recommend with the factory stock. Plus I have a Bergara b14 hmr carbon. And it shoots lights out so I knew they had good barrels. After sighting it in I found my action screws were 10lbs under torque my best group was .75 with federal eldx. I shot almost all the factory ammo available minus the nosler. After tightening the action screws I shot a .36 group two back to back. Hard to beat for the price. Also been looking into cva cascade rifles they seem very decent as well for the price. I might pick one of those up next and try it.

@@xfighter1117 Appreciate the feedback. I see some negative reviews about Fierce quality control and customer service, along with lots of rave reviews. It's hard to wade through the muck to find the truth in it all. Whatever choice I make, seems like there's going to be some risk. As they say, "your mileage may vary."
@xfighter1117Ай бұрын
@@Johnbobon ya I heard the same. Everytime I called they answered and helped me and they made it right with my deposit so I can’t say anything bad on the customer service. Also cabelas/bass pro shops carry fierce now to if you want a pretty standard config id just go right to them. Or make your order right after the hunting season or first of the year In case it gets pushed like mine.
@user-se8ds5ev5k4 ай бұрын
Just be damn sure that rifle gets test proved at the same damn elevation that the gun will be used in. The atmosphere gets a lot thinner as you go higher in elevation. Went hunting with a friend in 11 thousand elevation after sighting in at 1850. He shot over everything by quiet a bit until he shot a target at 100 yards and then he adjusted his scope for the new elevation and bingo, got a big mule deer later that day with his 243 at 270 yards.

Is this really news to people? There's been a lot of studies in 300 win mag and there's a reason that there's a lot of 24" or 22" tactical barrels. You're wrong on a 308 at 22" being the same as win mag as well.

Longer barrels have higher velocities that is why f-class rifles have 30 to 32 inch barrels

I personally dont understand this whole supresser craze main reason people are running 20 inch barrels any magnum caliber needs at least a 23 to 24 inch barrel just a fact

You still get improved balistics and muzzle velocity with a 20 inch 300 wm over a .308. Plus you can shoot heavier bullets. Yes you lose performance, but its not exactly a hard recoil .308. There still is performance gains, however you are burning a lot of powder and barrel life.
