Thank you Adam. Such a great video. I worked for a Japanese Company for many years & stupidly I never pushed for a visit to Japan! I regret that, would love to have visited this amazing country. I bet my Dalmatian would love to travel at 300kph on a Shinkansen, I know I would! Sadly don't think he'd enjoy the flight to get there, unless he was allowed to run around the cabin making everyone laugh

Took this flight last week on the red-eye from Perth back to Melbourne, same seat too, 4k, though configured for 7 rows of 4 in the one part of the cabin, and I must say being able to flatten the seat and close my eyes meant I was able to fall asleep on a plane for the first time ever for a proper nap. Definitely an addictive service.

What amazes me is that most of the travellers are predominantly white elderly folks. Seems like a colonial tradition in whites, no asians, blacks or any other seen in the video.
@FromtheWindowSeat8 күн бұрын
The majority of passengers on these trains tend to be by reasonably well off (given the cost) retirees … not sure if that plays a part. At the time of filming, inbound tourism to Australia from Asia hadn’t yet rebounded so there were quite a few British people and Europeans but that was about it, however not sure this was representative as i understand pre-Covid the train also attracted a lot of Chinese tourists. 🤔

Hey Adam, great video, as always. Two questions for you.....did you get the upgrade due to you bidding for the upgrade, or did you get it as a free upgrade? Also, you said the Koko black chocolate was good, but how does it compare to Haighs chocolate? Im hooked on Haighs after my visit to Adelaide last year. Thanks Regards Erika from sunny Perth 😎
@FromtheWindowSeat9 күн бұрын
Hi Erika! Thank you. This was a classic upgrade reward using frequent flyer points (19,000 I think) - don’t think I’ve even been upgraded for free on Qantas. 🤔 I would say Koko Black is up there with Haigh’s … slightly different flavour. I’d still give an edge to Haigh’s but I’m biased, being South Aussie. 😂
@Erika-el1kp9 күн бұрын
@FromtheWindowSeat Hey Adam, thanks for your reply. I would have thought you would have had a free upgrade by now from Qantas. So are the upgrades using points guaranteed?
@FromtheWindowSeat8 күн бұрын
@@Erika-el1kp Classic upgrade rewards are not guaranteed and are based on availability of seats (ie Qantas hasn’t been able to sell them) as well as frequent flyer status (so higher tier frequent flyers get first dibs). If you put in the upgrade request early and the flight has a good proportion of business seats available, then you might get an instant upgrade (so it’s upgraded when at the time you put the request in and is basically guaranteed as they deduct the points then). However, if it’s a more popular flight then you’ll normally find out if your upgrade is successful 24 hours or less before the flight (because there’s an unsold seat or someone else has cancelled or switched flights, for example). But it’s a good use of points compared to the cost of business class seats in $.

@FromtheWindowSeat thanks Adam, I might give that a try next time we fly out from Perth. Regards Erika from sunny Perth 😎
