Hi, it's been a while but if you're still around, would it be ok to clip a bit of this credited video for a reaction?

This has got to be the best Chinook video I've seen on here. I never get tired of them, even though I work where they come for maintenance.

I was thinking the other day that the V-22 Osprey is just a chinook flying sideways (rotor wise).

Goose bumps. Anyone else when they hear a chinook whiles at home runs out to look at them. Can never get board of them. I often stay at my brothers RAF base there a commen site and still I run into my garden to look if hear one.

So why did it just randomly land in a field then take off again ?
@dalewright36673 жыл бұрын
@Mistofoles Great question. From the approach the pilot made it wasn't an emergency landing.Part training for new pilots

I worked on these babies in the RAF! Try marshalling the things (standing in front of them with ping pong bats) GREAST FUN but not as bad as a 'Jolly Green Giant' they tend to blow you over! I now live 3 miles from their base! :))) One of our pilots bought an E Type Jag and I went with him IN A CHINOOK up North to collect it - saved driving it back 400 miles LOL

I flew in these many a time as a support unit for 7 and 33 Squadrons from RAF Odiham back in the late 80s. Always seemed to be mechanical issues with the aircraft back then, usually gearbox problems that would ground them. Hopefully those problems have been ironed out. Great video, brings back memories of a great time for me during my RAF service.
@get2dachoppa2492 жыл бұрын
Late 80s were CH-47C models, what you guys called the HC.Mk1, and if memory serves, the issues came from the more powerful engines putting more mechanical force into the drivetrain, resulting in premature bearing & gear wear. You had to send the entire transmission assembly back to a depot level facility to replace the gears or bearings.
