I ran RSP about 10 years ago and had a massive jump in my squat. Every time after that I ran it, I never got anything out of it again. It’s like a one night stand kind of routine. It might love ya once, maybe twice or not at all, it ain’t gonna be the same again though.

Thanks so much for the video, super helpful to hear your experience! I have a partial pec tear and will be getting surgery soon. You mentioned that you did CrossFit prior to your pec tear. Are you able to do hanging gymnastics now (pull ups, muscle ups, etc.)? If so, how long did it take to get to that point post surgery? Wondering because I do CrossFit somewhat competitively

I bought these shoes and I noticed that they were tight to the point that I lost feelings of my toes. I took the insoles out and replaced them with my old and worn insoles of my adipowers. Now they fit my feet very well and I like the stability they provide. There is a small heel slip sure, but that can be fixed with having the upper strap tighter.

I modified the program and squatted 2x per week and had some pretty good success with it. Age and experience level are definitely a factor and if you cannot handle the volume (e.g., masters) then it will be too much.
@trainershatehim
@trainershatehim 2 ай бұрын
I know a couple people who have tried the 2x /week version and had a lot of success too. Looking back, I probably could’ve handled it just fine if my other training was a little lighter and my overall life stress was lower. If I tried it again, I would use 97.5% as my training max and expect a 2.5% max improvement instead of 5%. I’d also try a prolonged version where you still squat 3x /week but you instead always do 2 days of the 80% doubles and 1 day ascending, instead of alternating and every other week having 2 of the ascending days.

Looking back it's hard to say what really happened. Maybe I did progress pretty well on the cycle but didn't realize my max was a bit lower before starting it? Or maybe I was under recovered and needed that deload? Or maybe those lower volume days in the last couple weeks facilitated recovery but I didn't make any remarkable progress regardless? Maybe it's trying to fit too wide of a spectrum of volumes and intensities into a short 6-week period while at the end of the day only allowing you to go over 90% 3 times? These questions show how getting better can be complicated!

Im curious, do you feel a difference in contour in your axillary fold/arm pit area of the pec when comparing your injured side and your good side? My surgeon told me what Im feeling is atrophy but it really feels more like damaged or missing muscle. How would you rate your symmetry overall at this point?
@trainershatehim
@trainershatehim 6 ай бұрын
YES, even to this day there is a noticeable difference in contour there. I have trained both pecs equally, and they FEEL equally strong, but the side that went through surgery almost lacks a bit of the "fullness" that the other side has, just in the axillary fold into the armpit. Hard to say exactly how or why that difference exists.
@chrismarano2135
@chrismarano2135 6 ай бұрын
@@trainershatehim Yeah, that is what Im experiencing exactly, 1 year post op. The strength is around 90% and its near impossible for anyone to tell theres a difference between my left and right side visually, even with my shirt off. It just feels slightly less full and the tendon in the axillary fold feels a bit bare compared to the good side. 13 or so years ago I tore my bicep tendon as well. One thing I noticed with that injury was that the tendon was pretty prominent after surgery and that took many years to eventually become not that noticeable. Its not perfectly symmetrical but its close enough. I never even think about it anymore. Im hoping my pec still has room for improvement in that regard as well. Does the asymmetry feeling still bother you 3-4 years post op, or have you gotten used to it? Cuz right now, its slowly eating away at my sanity. Thanks for the response.

I'm not sure either. Perhaps it would be worth consulting with a doctor? If your pec is detached, it's not exactly doing anything to help you lift, so I'm assuming your other muscles have gotten a lot stronger and are taking the brunt of the load.

@@trainershatehim Gotcha. I have the white leather ones, so I don't think I will experience the same fading that you did--but who knows, only time will tell! And yeah maybe they are higher? He is right , you will likely experience heal slip when you first buy them. Do not judge this immediately, give it time or to speed up the process. Put water along the back of the shoe from the ankle bone to the rear. work the water into the foam and you will feel it expanding. Afterwards, put the shoes on and wear it for a while. It will begin to mold the back of your foot. You may want to do this a couple times. It’s a lot quicker than waiting to have a hard enough work out to sweat the shoe completely out.
