This was in the 4th season of Here’s Lucy, which was the first season without Lucy’s son. There were a lot of special guests that season, including Flip Wilson, Dinah Shore, Tony Randall , and Vivian Vance’s final appearance on the show.

They say Fred Astaire was a great dancer. When Ginger danced with him she had to do the steps backwards in high heels.😅

They sure did well considering they just tossed this together without rehearsal.

The most beautiful part of Ginger’s Charleston here is at the very beginning. She begins slowly and pulls her audience in with some very slight hand movements and an infectious eye twinkling at 0.33-0.34. Then she ups her game showing us her amazing dancing. I’ve watched this clip several times just to see those beginning hand movements and eye twinkling. A truly gifted professional who has never been topped.

The way she could twist her feet so effortlessly was great.

Become a Katherine Hepburn fan? Must have been an inside joke, because Ginger and Katherine Hepburn hated each other

What Lucy is doing here is not dancing, it's aerobics.

Ginger's exit line alludes to her infamous feud w her RKO rival Kate Hepburn n at the same time, takes a sly dig on Lucy being a too fervent Old Hollywood fan!! 😂

My grandmother to prove to my mother that she was perfectly all right and trust me my grandmother knew she was dying of cancer, but she also knew that if she ever let it show that she knew both her husband and her daughter would fall to pieces so to prove her point, she performed the Charleston in the convalescenthome that she was in before they went on vacation before she died. My mother never realized that my grandmother was the one who had called me and she never realized that she knew, but could not let on Charleston will always remind me of her. I know this will say that I corrected it. I am using voice to text. I cannot correct anything and I cannot type anything because my hands don’t function properly nor can I punctuate. It’s all I can do to get voice to text. write anything even remotely close to what I wanna say so I wanted to add something. Some people have made the comments remark that Lucille Ball and Ginger Rogers were in their 60s when they perform the Charleston, my grandmother in the end incident above was 78 years old, had cancer, and still could perform the Charleston.

Ginger Rogers dancing alongside arguably the most famous ginger of all. Classic. I wonder if the younger woman in that scene is still around and showing her grandkids what a rug she used to cut with legends.

Lucie Arnaz still has those legs in 2024. I saw her perform a concert a few months ago wearing leggings and a blouse. Her voice is still great too.

Am 74. Saw Luci Arnaz on Broadway in “They’re Playing our Song” in late 1970’s. My late husband & I saw her here in San Francisco 8 years ago doing solo show. Great dancer, entertainer and cabaret singer. Wonderful show in an intimate room. Loved her show.
