This is one of my favorite Lucy performances! Love the band leader outfit, love the energy, love the choreography, love the melody, it's perfection!!

OMG!!!! I ONLY SAW THIS ONCE WHEN IT WAS FIRST BROADCAST! AND THAT F'ING SONG HAS BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD EVER SINCE!
@notmyfirstlanguage2 жыл бұрын
I also heard it only one time when I was a child, in English, which was not the language we spoke in my country, with my mom, and decades later we would still hum the whole melody and sing the words to the refrain!

Recall seeing this episode on the first run; was impressed by this song as a kid and still today.
@2up3rm4n112 жыл бұрын
Always remembered this song, of course, saw it in reruns all the time as a kid. In looking back, it was just tapping into The Music Man, wasn't it? Nostalgia for it's time, like we have 90s nostalgia currently going on. Main Streets don't exist anymore. And how about her flashing those sparkly pink panties at the end?

Lucy fought, against the wishes of her board, to have a pilot made of Star Trek! Perhaps without Lucy there’d be no Star Trek

This show was much talked about before aired...Lucy was taking a stand for real...the small towns were emptying...everyone heading for cities....Lucy wanted the small towns to live on as most cherished folks in these little townships....she was right...and I was saw this show aired at original time)))
@wardarcade7452Ай бұрын
Of course, it should be mentioned that she came from a truly beautiful small town with a main street with vintage buildings all set on a lake surrounded by mountains- Jamestown, New York! Yeah, even today it's a fun, relaxing place to chill (and not just going to the Lucy-Desi Museum)!

Lucy was brilliant. Her theme of the townspeople taking on the banks and winning. I wish that happened in real life.

True, Lucy wasn't a singer or dancer, but she had something that most trained singers/dancers often lack: star quality. That can't be taught.
@ajitter894 жыл бұрын
Miro101 actually she was a dancer, she had a long history as a former showgirl and chorus girl, and did a lot of dancing in earlier films for MGM. On top of all the times she would dance on her shows, she often displayed it with her perfect execution of difficult physical comedic blocking.

Lucy was underrated as a singer. At least she could sing in key. She made the song shine with her stage presence & charisma. She did Robert Preston proud.

Not too shabby. Too bad Lucy couldn't have played Mame before her voice went completely south
@WytZox17 жыл бұрын
Mame was a lame musical remake of a great Rosalind Russell movie Auntie Mame. I can watch Auntie Mame over and over but differences in Mame make it unwatchable. Lame show tunes and they got rid of Gloria Upson's so unfunny it's funny ping pong ball story as well as changing other characters. I blame producers and writers of Mame rather than Lucy for making it a bad movie. ♣

Another thing which hurt "The Lucy Show" was the liberal use of song/dance numbers which highlighted the limitations of Lucy's musical skills, not to mention the wisdom of her producers.
@ClassicAustralianTV3 жыл бұрын
I never used to like the musical episodes either but I really do now. Yes, Lucy isn't the best singer, but it's just a bit of fun and I love it.
