I use plant holders like you have in 2 tanks. I noticed the other day one of my female white clouds, (I have golden white clouds)going in and out of the slats on the holder. Then a male. Fingers crossed I see eggs soon on the patho's roots that are inside the holder.

I have a 55 gallon planted tank with mostly melanotaeniidae rainbows (nowhere near as big as yours), some congo tetras, a bigger angelfish. I have a small tank with a blue zebra cichlid because I thought I got rid of all the african cichlids I had but a baby managed to stick around, I've had it in a tiny tank by himself until I could figure out what to do with him, none of the shops around me would take him, he's getting bigger, I've been avoiding putting him in the bigger tank because I thought he might attack other fish or destroy everything as he gets bigger, do you think this would be the case?
@LushSaltyAquariums9 күн бұрын
@@otallono alas, you’ve found my blind spot. I do not have any personal experience with African cichlids. You could try putting a notice on FB marketplace forum or taking the animal to a big box pet store, where they generally take anything as a courtesy to customers. I have good lighting and started off with root tabs and they all die in a month. Tried so many plants and they never live. I think the tanks is jinxed. The fish are so happy cause they have cover etc but then the plants die and fish aren’t the same.
@LushSaltyAquariums10 күн бұрын
@@tktropicals4997 Do you use any kind of soil? And is whatever substrate you do use deep enough to support roots growth (for stems)? Also- There are super easy plants you can try: Val, Pealweed, hornwort... They are almost bullet proof.
@tktropicals499710 күн бұрын
@@LushSaltyAquariums I have soil and sand on top Deep enough for plants in my 20H tank.. I tried stem plants and they grow well but then they die off and just sit on top of water. My yo yo fish unrooted them another way they died. LOL I did just put in a jungle val and it seems to be ok. Been 2 months. I have a crypt that seems to be growing and Anubis on a piece of wood that is ok but val not growing like I heard. It grows like a weed, well not in my tank. PH water is 7.5 and temp is 78-81. I put some sage plants in my 10gal and they are ok been 3 weeks with some melting. I did add some root tabs to both tanks. I guess I gotta be patient. Hi Stefan, I'm in a dilemma. Forbmy new aquarium I'm really wanting green kubotai rasboras but I have hard water, ph 7.8. Do you think they'll show that amazing green color in my water parameters? I don't want to go down the road of manipulating the hardness/ph. I used to have glowlight danios and they were beautiful the day they arrived, but their colors washed out in 1 day and never rebounded. I ended up giving them to a friend. I'm thinking of about 18 kubotai's with 4 sunset honey guaramis and about 8 duplicate corys. Plus amano shrimp. Your thoughts on the color of the kubotai's in hard water? Thanks in advance
@LushSaltyAquariums11 күн бұрын
Well, neutral is 7.0 so 7.8 not much higher. iI the fish are tank raised (and they probably are but you should ask) then I wouldn't worry. can you ask the seller his water perameters?
@FishRfun11 күн бұрын
@LushSaltyAquariums yes I'd ask the seller for sure before buying. I've heard they don't travel well either. I guess if I can't be sure I could go with ember tetras or perhaps odessa barbs...just spit balling here. The kubotai's are my first choice though
