My most low tech aquarium has plenty of appealing features: super healthy plants and fish, zero unsightly algae and hundreds of “wild form” cherry shrimp!

There's more of Otocinclus species than just a few. I just wish more can be available without breaking the bank.

Yes, there are some expensive types. But my understanding is even among the "common" are numerous strains or phenotypes.

Oto's are really great if you can get a group like you have. I have 5 or 6. Maybe 7. Anyway, in a group you get to see so much more natural behavior and activity compared to just 1or 2 hiding. They can be very humerious! I have a very pale white CPD female. She eats well, etc. so I dont worry about her anymore. I assume thats from over breeding a group. Am I right in thiinking that? Tank looks great!

A group is far more preferable and given how small and unobtrusive there really is no reason to have less than 3. Ideally more. I think your pale CPD is probably a "runt" of sorts, like mine w the hump. Oh, well.

Think you can have penny worth and subwasa in the substrate.😊

I wouldn't rule any of that out. It is kind of an "everything but the kitchen sink aquarium!"
