I did. most of the active content is on youtube and github now; which saves me the cost of web hosting. if you're searching for something check waybackmachine for archives of my site.

I left a message on the other Vid so thought I'd do an update. This kit is about $AU62 which is $US40. It seems like these copied Lego Technical sets have reduced a lot in price since this vid was done. Though AliExpress have weird sales, which can be annoying as you can buy something then get an ad a week later and it's 20% less. Manuals are never AliExpress knock off best points, but it's a puzzle.

aliexpress sometimes has a 50% coupon for new accounts. so if you've never used the platform, make it worth it.

Just got a Quasicade HD from Facebook Marketplace, and had these exact thoughts... good to know what I'm getting into, even if I just want to change the hideous button colors. 😂 Such a weird setup for these cabinets, but I can see what they were going for.

Nice to see someone built a claw machine too. I built one also, with 3D print. For keeping the cost low, I used small geared dc motor, electron control is arduino. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ibmGgdJ8ncWpZmg.htmlsi=QTZTXVcR5ukQplzE

Hi Is it possible to get these in the UK? This is exactly what i need for my up coming project and would possibly be ordering quite a few of them if my new idea is successful. I was using pre-made macro controllers but I want to use Arduino for my new product. thank you

Hi, Im sorry if its a silly question, Im new to this SK6812 mini-e leds and there are a lot of things that I still don't get. How is that you didn't use the 1uF capacitor?
@RetroBuiltGames
@RetroBuiltGames 12 күн бұрын
not silly at all. its a MFG recommendation but not required in all cases. In this example i'm only running 4 LEDs (not 100+) there's not too much disruption in the supply voltage rail.

I am completely blown away by this video and everything you did in it! I personally think these cabinets are AMAZING! Keep up the phenomenal work! I was about to say "you should sell these". Then also realized how asinine that would be seeing as, in order to make it profitable for yourself (worth your time) you would likely have to "mark them up" to be either on par with or exceeding the price of those 1up's (which I feel you just one upped)! After all, the whole point of DIY is that it's cheaper than buying something "mass produced"! Even after having to find a CNC to "rent" or "borrow" etc... I do hope to one day build a few cabinets myself, after other life priorities are fulfilled first! I can only hope they turn out as "nice" as these (probably will not use your design, will likely make my own from scratch)...
@RetroBuiltGames

Why thank you! You said likely the most thoughtful comment here that covers the full spectrum of emotions. These arcades can only be DIY'd because the level of effort put into them was fueled solely on my emotional attachment to video games. Not something that's feasible in a monetary sense. Hopefully seeing that it is possible might be the push to get others building what they day dream about. The reality here (completely ignored by condensing this into a video) is I dreamed about this setup since 2016. A lot of small skill building challenges via this hobby eventually gave me the opportunity; and that opportunity meant working hundreds of hours to build what's shown in the video.

Nice evolution from your first machine! Personally I'd have the bar on a servo so you can simply select the size from a menu (or even better a barcode), that way you could also program some sort of agitating motion in the bar too to keep things flowing.
@RetroBuiltGames
@RetroBuiltGames Ай бұрын
thanks. that's a lot of complication for something your fingers can do in 10 seconds. I do agree with the agitator; does need a mechanism to stir/ unclog jams.

you could program a button push of the start button to pause the game when the credit runs out... if not credit within timer then the system restarts .... that is actually a really clever way to use old arcade games legally in an arcade... just have to not use licensed art lol especially on Nintendo
