Im gonna go even further back here, where i think the shit hit the fan. I believe that back sometime after the expansion, someone higher up realized that its not selling enough. This was brought to the attention of the rest up there, and they just gave the devs an ultimatum that went something like "ok you failed, you had your chance and now you need to drop whatever you are working on and bring this game to console, and so, their hands were tied. After that, i pretty much agree with what you are saying, however, the reason they failed with the expansion and everything around it, is either because of incompetent devs, or lack of resources, but most likely both.

I know it's not a mmo, but I can't recommend Soulmask enough - game is incredible and gives lots of New World vibes - especially while crafting and gathering.

Throne and Liberty will be the new hot thing. It comes with its own fair share of problems still but its going to be the latest and greatest until the next thing comes along.

GW2 I wouldn't get into WoW until the next xpac, starting at the end of an xpac is ew eso will never not lag and being in NZ isn't going to help, I think NA servers open to ppl outside of NA actually contributes to the lag Albion....uhmmm Allllbion a better game lol BDO is fun just extremely grindy which is part of the appeal depending on who you ask

ESO player here (PC EU). Don't know what to tell you. Endgame population dwindling. Ball groups. Same people in Battlegrounds. I don't PvP much atm, but I've heard the same complaints. ESO got new servers what ... maybe two years ago. Lag is mostly gone, even in Cyrodiil. However this has been achieved not just via the new servers, but by retaining historically low population caps. In other words you may find less action in Cyro than you remember. EDIT: Watched to the end and saw you found the action :). The best reason to play ESO as an endgame player is IMO if you like the combat. Compared to New World there are no ability cooldowns, other than for ultimates, and animation cancelling arguably makes combat feel more responsive. As a theory crafter and someone who has farmed all possible gear, a lot of the gear progression remains horizontal. You do not need to buy everything to be competitive in PvP. You IMO don't need the spellcrafting / Gold Road chapter. ZOS have been, if anything, overly conservative with the power creep from that, e.g. there isn't really any. ESO, like other games, often gets slated for microtransactions. That said, the two things that are, IMO, the best value as an endgame player are the full game with all the chapters (if you are new or not very up-to-date) and ESO+ for at least long enough to farm the dungeon sets you may want / need. You could skip spell crafting and just get ESO+ for a while, as that also includes all previous chapters while you subscribe, just not Gold Road.

I've been seeing some good stuff about Warframe's combat. BLDG did a video over a new player's experience and he's coming from New World. I might try that out for a bit.

Game is trash with a trash Dev team. ESO is miles better with actual end game content

New world won't be a dead game once it drops on console ..

I stopped playing ESO because of the lag too. It has been many years, hard to get back without a way to test it

I'm honestly pumped for New world to come to console. I understand why people are upset but people being angry will only push possible buyers away and kill the game even more. The community needs to be a bit more hopeful imo

Went back to Guild Wars 2 about 3 months after New World Launch. Still play it to this day. Other than that I have 4k hours in Rust.

lol @ 13:00 so true. I enjoy the MMO aspects and find the weird juvenile toxicity off-putting. There is absolutely no hope for the game even with relaunch if they can't mitigate the toxicity. (3v3s have been so much more enjoyable recently than OPR for that reason.)

You're better off playing a game that isn't like NW and come back Oct 15 when it feels refreshed. Try something like BG3 and occasionally jump back in to NW for the fix

GuildWars2, similar dodge mechanic, action camera as an option, multiple PVP modes, you can pvp at level 1 they level all pvp to the same stats. Then there's World vs World which is huuuge and fun and frankly I think NW pvp players might dominate. Free to play, horizontal progression.
