I was really impressed with my mix wave kit, but this is honestly tenfold better then anything on the market. You really do get more for less with your plugin man. So much potential. Would you ever consider a update where you can log and library your own samples?
@RobotDogStudio2 сағат бұрын
Thanks for saying that! Yes, in fact I was developing a new product with the ability to add your own samples... it's definitely on the list of features I want to incorporate!

Tape is vastly superior to Digital. Look at it this way: At 15 inches per second 65,000,000 magnetic oxide particles are rearranged to either a north or south orientation as they leave the recording head. The best digital resolution is 4,608,000 bits per second. With 2 inch tape it is 80,000,000 magnetic oxide particles per second. The numbers don’t lie.

As a drummer, seeing duct tape on the snare drum kinda makes me cringe. I think a bit of it was even on the rim. That’s not good.

Loved the video. I learnt something new. However I am using Ableton. I will try to follow the layout with what I have. I suppose the plugins work in many DAWS. I will watch the video again to get the details of settings. Thanks I have found your channel refreshing. A real working engineer with good tips for a hobbyist with a small recording setup.

How many velocity layers and round robins per layer? Waiting for this answer to purchase or not. This info should be mandatory in product specification pages. Also: Does it support Hi-Hat "open-ess" MIDI cc control?
@RobotDogStudio15 күн бұрын
There are between 8-12 velocity levels per articulation (there are separate articulations for snare center and rimshot for example) and 5 round robins for all samples. Hi hat openness is controllable by midi CC. There are also separate hi hat tip and edge articulations you can access as well as 5 different positional zones on snare from center to edge and snare off sounds for all snares. Hope that helps! Thanks

This is very cool. I love the sounds and tones of the drums and grooves. Im curious how many grooves are there. I am a beginner and not very good at drum programming, and want to use samples that come with plugins?
@RobotDogStudio16 күн бұрын
Thanks! To be perfectly honest, the grooves are very simple and limited. While RDD makes it very easy to get a pro sound, I would not buy it for the grooves! That said, there are many midi groove packs available from other companies that you can use with RDD like these: diypunkrock.com/collections/midi-drum-packs

Great video, but why when you go to select the routing in protools does it not show “Kontakt out 1” I followed the steps to the T and my kick drum isn’t going to the right channel, even though the correct outs are selected in Kontakt. Since the kick is on the out channel 1 in Kontakt yet the option for channel 1 in protools isn’t there

If you cant tell the difference between a apogee and tascam that something else in your chain is very poor quality as well. Either your monitors, ears, sound absorption, etc. in my opinion people always try and say the cheaper unit always sound better because they hate to admit that the more expensive unit is more expensive because its better. But if super cheap interfaces and super cheap studio monitors do it for you then more power to you, whatever makes you happy and works for you.

Can you make a video on exactly how you are routing everything into the daw using the onyx? Glad I found your channel most stuff on KZfaq is not for live bands and if it is they’re using 20k dollar consoles so keep doing what you’re doing
@RobotDogStudioАй бұрын
Thanks! It's so simple with the Onyx... It's a USB 2.0 interface. It will record all 24 input channels to separate tracks in your DAW. They are recorded pre-EQ and fader, so they are basically direct outs after the preamp and low-cut switch. Hope that helps!

How many different velocity samples on the snares? When all velocity does is change loudness, or level, and not sample tone, then my roll heavy music gets to robotic.

Not the best idea for everyone in the same room... Theres normally entourage, guests, management, media, video, coming in and out of the sessions.. I did a live to multi session recently and were one room short.. The studio owner was trying to get us to put 2 trumpets in the CR. I didn't like the idea. We ended up putting them into an adjacent writing suite and ran lines from there.. 10 people rolled through that session.. So glad we did that...

Agreed. The new studio I’m building will have several rooms for isolation and guests. This setup works well enough for now…

crisp? yes, my phone also sounded crispy. An expensive gear doesn't count on that. B has clearly some solid satisfying drumming that punch into my body that A is lacking of. A better powerful preamp? might be score 90 vs 95 edge has no significant difference, but once the CD is published, some people listening it with a McIntosh.... not me... This is about a CD becomes legendary or not, like Brothers in Arms. At this point if I can hear the difference through my humble A7x, I will go with Apogee. But I am not a sound engineer.

Man...this is SICK! You've gone so far down the rabbit hole with control. You HAVE to make more kits and expand this platform. I've spent way too much on the EZ Drummer platform, in effort to augment me e-drum set up....wish I knew about your stuff sooner.
