That's very interesting. I think there should be more warnings from producers / the 3D print community that self sourcing activated carbon might harm your printer terribly. Great video!

I personally had no time to work on this in the time being but maybe I'll get back to that as I still have the powder and a spare laser. Meanwhile, there is a sls4all.com/ project that is making a sls printer

The good thing about this being one of the first reviews is I bet Rat Rig will see this! Thanks for the review! I have a killer bee and contemplating upgrading

Well, never thought about that too but yes somehow RR presence in youtube is somehow poor. 3D printers kinda gets reviewed, CNC machines do not. Regarding killerbee vs stronghoild... unless you're milling aluminum I'd say that the spindle is the biggest difference. Fast, powerful, watecooled :)

Thanks! I'm getting through the electrical and cooling slowly, trial and error. I wrote them about print quality and I'm also commenting a bit on the manual (especially regarding the VFD setup which was not covered at all).

I have the same set up. Been running for a few months now. The issues i have are 1. The blackbox wifi connection is temperamental and 2. I can only get 3 m/min before the steppers stall. I've look everywhere but cannot see if you can simply upgrade the psu to 48v and i think 24v is under powered. Let me know how you get on.
@techbytch
@techbytch Ай бұрын
Well thanks, I finally set up the VFD (thanks to the error in the RatRig wiring manual, LOL) and we'll see how it goes from here. I don't thing BlackBox is capable of handling 48v per stepper. Have you tried to ajust the current on the blackbox?

@techbytch
@techbytch Ай бұрын
Best of luck to you, mate! First of all I'd take a bit longer cables because the stock are like for blackbox 1m away from the router. I'd go either with Igus chainflex or flat cables or at least a bit thicker silicone cables (18 awg when rr suggests 20 awg, 22 awg where they suggest 24 etc). Everything else is pretty well designed, you know. Just stick to the BOM and the build manual and you are good to go.

Hello, interesting test, I didn't know that activated charcoal, or at least some of them, are washed with an acid, so I'm wondering if it's specified on the labels of the products you tested. On the second one, which is obviously to be avoided for the 3D printer air purification project, is it specified somewhere on the box that it's been washed with an acid?
@sahanfernando4414
@sahanfernando4414 4 ай бұрын
i know this was a while ago but the edges are thicker because the print head has some weight and when changing direction needs to decelerate, stop, and accelerate back the other way, you could tune it to reduce power as it slows down.

Must have for any laptop/chromebook/tablet repair. Honestly this thing easily beats the ones my job provided (Which i think is the iFixit one which has 0.15 electrical torque, 1nm manual, the one in the video is 0.35/3nm) not only does it have a rechargeable battery, which charges over my lunch break, lasting me the entire work day unlike the iFixit that uses 2 AA batteries every 5-10 laptops. The motor is locked into place when not pressing a button meaning you can finish the last 2 twists manually, this helps preserve the integrity of screws and the equipment you're screwing them into. This video doesn't show some downsides, one of em is the whirring can annoy people, especially if you work on location, I was in a school during exam period once, and the school stafff had me seated in the IT classroom to fix some student laptops, this thing was a no go with them doing tests 20 feet away. The kit also doesn't have JIS bits, this is probably a personal preference but I can't root for team Philips, their 'Cam-out" feature destroys delicate screws, which was apparently a design choice to do the opposite, strange. all in all: As a Laptop repair specialist, this screwdriver is amazing, it saves your wrist and makes it so that when you come home from a full day of screwing laptop screws, you can still use your wrists for leisure. 10/10 If there is a better price/performer out there. or one that's better for a little bit more money I would love for people to let me know. I do not like the iFixit one or the Xiaomi Wowsticks, both brands have let me down in this department.

I think that 3rd attempt might not be accurate as there could be still some acid residue from test no2. Anyway this kind of test is nicely showing what acid can do. If You find a producer of the carbon pelets You can always ask if it is steam or acid activated.

Commercial SLS printers usually heat the chamber to fairly close to their glass transition temperature, and use the laser to push it over the edge. You'll probably get better results using ramped power during the double fired areas (the edges where it lingers) and using a heated chamber and very low power on the laser diode.

maybe try seeing if you can pulse the laser instead of having it on continuously, and maybe doing multiple passes, that should get rid of the burning effect and allow for finer precision
