I hope this Save someone’s headaches! Whenever you were discussing peep rotation, one of the variants from the one that you recommended changing strings (rotation of peep during your draw) is due to other ways of tying peeps. Let me explain, there is ways of tying peeps that do not bind the string at the top and at the bottom which leads to changing the way the strings rotate( example of altering how your string rotation happens due to variants in your strings twist/space is the way a bowmar peep tuner works, it creates the same effect), if you change that method to your way of tying a peep it will fix that issue. Again it’s not always, but this was my case! Thank you so much for the amazing knowledge you’re sharing.

Been shooting the Velocity SL’s with the IRIS collar system now for 2 months. I’d stack them against any arrow on the market. The collars are damn near bullet proof. pretty good advice. One caveat. The string has to be in the center aligned with all that hardware in the middle. Assuming the cams and limbs are all aligned with that,, wammo! I would align the cams if out, then ensure aligned with limbs all to the riser and then you have the two perfectly lined up points and should be shootin center when all done. I dont even mount equipment till I have a tuned bow to riser which is where your limb bolts are. In short you are aliging the end of the limb to the other end and correcting tilt on the cam first. You may be better to line that shaft up to the middle or upper part of the berger hole. When those were originally put on the old metal hanger compounds they used a bolt with an arrow rest on the end of it that put the arrow right on top or half way up the berger hole. I bet that carry over is till expecting that arrow shaft center to be right close to the top of that berger hole. I find it funny that howard hill could hit an aspirin out of the air and won 167 field tournaments in a row all while his arrow was pointing WAY left of center on the string riser and limbs. That arrow wants to go there within the path that the limbs and string are pointing. It may flip around a bit to get there but will make it if the arrow can bend enough to work it out. Usually straightens out before 15 yards.

All I run is a 50 dollar index release, an 80 dollar fixed sight (although I do want a slider since the deer and elk here can be at a decent distance), a 140 dollar cbe drop away, 80 dollar conquest 10 in stabilizer, 30 dollar quick disconnect and a 600 dollar darton consequence. My arrows are about 10 bucks a piece as well. Also speaking on cheaper bows, the consequence is a great shooting bow and from watching multiple testing videos, they’re up there with some of the flagship bows in terms of quality. Sure the speed isn’t amazing but at 27in draw length with 410 grain arrows I’m shooting 245 fps at 65 lbs

Great idea, I actually think I should do a full episode on this. I will make it the topic of episode 7! To answer your specific question, just spend the money on the cheapest LCA press. It is the same one I use, and it is all you need. The emergency presses are nightmares waiting to happen, I would be hard pressed to use one even in an emergency! If you are serious about DIY archery, you've got to get a press and you will never regret it!

I scrub the inside with a copper .22 caliber bore brush for a few strokes. I also scratch the insert shaft with 100 grit sandpaper a few strokes. Clean with alcohol. Ihave used the Bohning low temperature hot melt for several years. I’m sure it’s not as good as a quality epoxy but I only loose one or two points a year. Thinking I will try epoxy on this new arrow builds for the 24’ hunts.
@YoureSoVane
@YoureSoVane Ай бұрын
I find that the brush doesn't do anything except push existing debris around. The sandpaper does work, though. If you use any kind of chemical adhesive, check what it bonds to. Many bond to the moisture on the surface of the parts, so you might need to let them absorb water from the air before you glue them.

I’ll share my experience since I shot my last buck with the TOTA solide 4 blade 1”. So I shoot a Mathews Phase 4, 55lbs draw weight and 30.5” draw length. This was a whitetail on October 4th at 20 yards broadside. I was set up on the ground so perfect shot angle! I tucked my pin right behind his right shoulder and the shot hit perfect. Buck took off and heard him crash out of sight in the thick bush. Still decided to give it an hour and came back. Zero blood at point of impact, which had me panicking at first. Didn’t find my arrow. Luckily found the buck dead about 40 yards away, where I had heard him crash. Arrow was found broken, so I assume it went through and was hanging on the exit side and broke off as the buck ran away. It was a very deadly shot, but the only negative thing was the lack of blood trail…assuming the hole was plugged ? This was not a small whitetail, 216lbs field dressed… Overall I’m satisfied and I’ll be using the same heads for 2024!

So short story, knew a guy that was on a mule deer hunt. Said dude had 1 arrow in his quiver that had a field point on it and in the heat of the shot (which materialized rather quickly in front of him) he grabbed the arrow with the field point. Arrow flew and double lunged a very nice 3x4 buck at 40 yards. With his standard size field point he had effectively put a 30 caliber hole through that bucks lungs and he died about 60 yards later. Shot placement is paramount folks. Oh and use a very sharp TOTA broadhead 👍🏻👍🏻 We still joke with him about that
