Me three! Liz, what do you think is going on with our blue birds?

I believe that most of the blue birds we buy commercially(big stores) are tissue cultured. They grow faster, more resistant to diseases and hardier. In the process, somehow the plant have to forego some of its natural abilities such as reproduction(maybe). I never had a store bought blue bird that produced an offset. Only the beheaded ones produce offsets or babies. 🥰

Blue bird leaves downward, means not enough light. They love the sun and will tend to grow pink and upright. 🥰

Watering from above is how they're meant to be watered. It's only by choice on some species with white farina to not get the plant wet for aesthetic reason. For me, I water all of them from above. If left outside in open air, they can stay wet until the soil dries up naturally. I never bring in my plants. A couple of years ago, we've had rain almost everyday for a couple of months. Have a great weekend! 🥰

There are systemic insecticide one can use but I don't like using them because they can also kill the bees. I never had mealybug for the first 3 years of growing succulents because I use to water them a lot. I find that leaving the soil dry for too long encourages mealybug to thrive. When the flowers starts to appear, also good habit to remove them as soon as you see them, as they also encourages aphids and mealybug. Cleaning and maintence of the succulents seems to ward off bugs and pest. Once seen, I use my metho solution or Eco oil which is obly available I think in Australia. Have a great wekend! 🥰

@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK thanks Liz yes, I remember you saying if you water it helps with mealy bugs I water quite often and I still have a systemic problem. I live in California so we only have access to isopropyl alcohol that I mix with water to spray when I see them but I have to do it constantly to keep them at bay. Maybe my soil is contaminated, 😞
