Fram?
@OwenLucas
@OwenLucas 9 сағат бұрын
Yes, I bought a lot of them on clearance. Fram unfortunately has a bad name for some reason but even their basic filters are fine with the extra guard and tough guard being very well built. At the end of the day I’d say that even budget proline filters from Walmart will get the job done for at least 5000 miles. It’s very rare for a filter to fail anyway.

Must be a nasty engine. I change my oil and the oil comes out clean on the dipstick for quite awhile. In a Toyota 5.7 liter and a Cummins x15 engine.

I woder did you run engine when rinsing with cheaper oil or just fill ithe oil in and drain it ?

I filled LM into the old oil, then rinsed it with cheap oil. The rinsing isn’t necessary unless your engine is really sludged up

You never mention what to do with the second oil fill. Do I start my engine and run it for a few minutes or do I just drain the second oil fill right away? If I run the engine, for how long? Do I change the oil filter each time?
@OwenLucas
@OwenLucas Күн бұрын
You can run it on the cheap oil for a few minutes, you want it to circulate.

This would be a lot faster doing a single short run with 50/50 ATF and oil for a flush.
@OwenLucas
@OwenLucas 15 күн бұрын
I’ve heard people add a little ATF before but going 50/50 might be too much h. It would really break down the lubrication properties of the engine oil. I know someone who blew up their engine just adding a quart of ATF into a 5qt sump.

I don't think the 126 miles would make your oil dark , its not enough miles to do that.
@OwenLucas
@OwenLucas 15 күн бұрын
I agree, I’ve changed oil on some cars with less than 1000 miles of use and the oil came out only slightly darker. This test proves to me that the flush worked.

So much good oil wasted here. Engine flushes are pointless if you're changing the oil regularly and if you have serious sludge buildup, you're just asking to blow your engine by clogging the oil pickup doing a flush.

Are there any aftermarket performance cold air intakes that fit? It seems the 1.5L standard engine trim has a million but I don’t see any for the hybrid
@OwenLucas
@OwenLucas 26 күн бұрын
I am not aware of any available. I don’t think cold air intakes are worth it anyway for the minuscule benefit if any in power. This modification can also be used by the dealer to deny warranty repairs.
