Yes, that first base can make such a difference. I got frozen, nothing to do, but go camping Montana with cold 10 moths out of the year. A buddy got Minot, North Dakota. We tried everything to leave, even put in world wide and no luck. We all got out and I did go reserves, but realize years later, that I was really made for active duty, but lacked the maturity to see past the first few years. I knew like one Airman who reenlisted out of maybe 20 and it all had to do with doing time there with no hope for years to leave, if we had reenlisted. I knew a couple who had been there 6 years and still no leaving. We jokingly called it getting paroled. I know someone has to go to the hell holes, but you sure hate it to be you as it can change so much of your future in the wrong direction.

Personally, I would struggle with the old PT test. This new one seems better I don’t have a cut body, more so chunky, for the bigger guys with upper body strength push ups and plank are my go to, I did 52 pushups and 3-3:30 minute plank (25-29) and got 40 shuttles(level 5.7) and passed with a 75% I’m not saying emulate my style. But I am saying if life is hitting you hard & you just want to pass. Try to max out push ups and plank, for my plank I put on a 7 minute song and wait for a certain lyric to hit in the song at the 3 minute mark and I choose to stop or keep going. My last test I did 3 minutes but the one before I got 3:30! For the shuttle I do the stair master for at least 5 minutes and cycle on the bike at the gym for 10-12 minutes for like a week before my test( I know I need to train more) but for me it works. But since I JUST PASSED I am more inclined to keeping my stripe and my job. No need for fear of failing when you’re in control. If you’re someone who is in fear of failing I promise if you hit the stair stepper for 5 minutes that is equivalent as the shuttle run level 5.7 of 40 shuttles. Hope this some what helps to those who struggle like I did. MAKE SURE you hang around with people who are fit who encourage you to be a better you. If you don’t DM me.

By the time you jump 10 hoops to get the bonus, you will blow all the money quickly. At best, your bonus money is going to past debt you want to pay off, your parent's debt, or buying a bunch of toys. Very very few actually save the bonus money and invest. If you have college debt, do loan repayment, not the bonus. Remember, you must live the contract, not the bonus.

My son is currently being ghosted by our state's Air Force recruiter. If the Air Force is overflowing with applicants and doesn't need any more young people, then just say so. Ghosting is rude and cold.

Side question, what if I had gauges and I took them out but they don’t fully close. Do they have a waiver for those kind of situations
@Jodywithawhy
@Jodywithawhy 7 сағат бұрын
Unfortunately they don’t do waivers. In order to join the holes have to close the point no light (like a flashlight) can pass through.

Short answer....no....but it damn sure helps and influences people's perception of you. Outside of the AFQT score, your line scores will boost your profile and everyone from your recruiter to your future senior NCO will offer you things they don't normally do for most. They try groom you for leadership.

ChairForce name exists because "most," not all, interactions other branches have with the AF is predominantly administrative, transportation, and logistics driven. It's no different than when Airmen call Army and Marine members dumb choads and brainwashed lol. We all love each other at the end of the day. There are idiots in every culture who leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Basic Training/BMT has one goal: get you out of your comfort zone, become self sufficient, learn to adjust on the fly, get away from dependence on mommy and daddy making up for your mistakes.

Facts....the more prepared you are, the more patience your recruiter will be and work towards getting you something close to your deeam list, regardless of the branch. Especially if your ASVAB scores are high, physical and background requires no waivers, they tend to prioritize placing you in a career field where you can maximize your talents, while also meeting the needs of that branch. When you have issues and lack preparation, thats when the impatience seems to kick in and they are like: "look, this is what's available now, take one."

I spoke to an Air Force recruiter yesterday for the reserves. I didn't realize that the military no longer take people as they are anymore. You gotta be at specific BMI and body fat and practically be medication-less. I was like I will scrub toilets and drive the bus. I will never put a person down for trying to take care of their family. I was like okay man 1 weekend a month and two weeks a year you betcha. That was a hard pill to swallow. My lifestyle choices kept me from opportunity to give my wife and kids a boost. I have 3 undergraduate college diplomas. Officer could be on the table but they are super strict now. If they are willing to take ages up to 42 now I thought maybe.

Lol except when literally all those CCAF credits are fucking useless. I had 60+ credits from my enlistment time. College literally only took PE credit for BMT and my Advanced Computer Networking course. All of the avionics was worthless i guess. 😂 just tons of empty credit hours.

TO ADD: I will say, however, that Boeing and Northrup wanted to talk to me as I was separating about taking a job with them. They were willing to take me with just my military experience, so that was a pretty nice offer. Just not what I want to do.

You would but being totally transparent, you won’t be having the finer things for the first 3-5 years. You’ll have all the necessities, but any luxuries most likely won’t come until you make E-5.

Actually space force gets it better but u could of just said y’all don’t do shit and all other jobs in the different branches have something that corresponds to jobs outside also we get paid the same amount and college for everyone in service that dorm thing isn’t all true now that all branches are slacking in getting more recruits less people…the barracks weather student or staff or on a base there’s not as much people meaning super high chance at getting a room to yourself and it’s bigger since 2 people or more were meant to be in it. And the chances get better if ur a female. Also we all know marines are where the men are and u forgot to mention the average F off rate that someone goes into the recruiting office and comes out with nothing 5 secs later with airforce.

There was No such thing as Warrior week in the 60, 70's, 80's. No classrooms with females. You just saw them at a distance or at church. The USAF was distancing itself from the Army back then and now has returned to their original Army roots it appears. All changed after 9-11 and with so many deployments. ZERO deployments for anyone from mid-70's to 1990.

In the 80's, it was 6 weeks and there was film as in projector film that we had to watch called, "The Fastest 6 Weeks." NO PT uniform existed and no backpacks existed. All PT in black Combat Boots that you had to spend hours polishing.

My dad served WWII, Korean WAR, I ASSUME TO VIET NAM BECAUSE I REMEMBER HIS DRESS WHILE IN , AND HE TOLD ME IF YOU WERE IN AND DESERTED YOU COULD GET SHOT IN FRONT OF A FIRING SQUAD, SOO THEY WERE FORCED TO SERVE, BUT LOOKING AT THE CODE TALKERS DOING SUCH A GREAT JOB I HAVE TO SAY THEY SAVED US ALL, IF THE Government WAS SMART THEY WOULD HAVE SEEN THE LANGUAGES OF THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE AS AN ASSET AS IT TURNS OUT, ( I HOPE THE TRIBES KEEP THIER IN LANGUAGES A SECRET), WE MAY NEED This AGAIN
