Hardened steel, you don’t die but you are deaf after a blow because of the high carbon ringing like a church bell.

Sure plate armor can be restrictive if it isn't designed properly, angular metal loins and gain pauldrons would be hard to move in, the only con is heat and noise but we can always put a cloth over it, so the only real con is noise when sneaking
