Gorgeous! I’ve been learning to do builder gel for the past few months. Once I got the hang of it my nails last forever, have grown so much without breakage. I love it. Thanks for sharing some useful tips here!

They look really good! I would love to do this but it looks pretty difficult and I’m sure they’d be a hot mess if I tried to do it!

So nice!!! Do you ever have to soak any of the gel off or does that bit get it all off? Thx

Perfect color for everyday and special occasions!! I so far never had tried gel nails but I do confess I love how clean and shiny they look. Someday I will definitely try them. Thank you for sharing this tutorial.

I use those peel, stick and cure gel nail strips. My hair gets stuck under them after only like 4 days of growth. May have to give this a try ❤

I’ve recently started doing my own builder gels but my application needs a little practice. Thank you so much for this, it was super helpful. Your nails are gorgeous! xx

Been gel polishing for years but always annoyed when my edges chip when they’re long. So fascinating! May try learning this way and the drill seems fun lol

This just motivated me to try this at home-great job! It's funny I actually just painted my nails today with OPI 'Lincoln Park After Dark" my OG haha

I still use your application method from the OPI era. Pretty much every time I apply nail Polish since 2011 I think of Blair

Wait, contacts?? I thought you had Lazik laser eye surgery done a long time ago? Did it not last? Or is it because your eyes got a little worse since?

Oh gosh Blair, sorry, but that was sooo wrong. Your nail is not supposed to be this red under, you filed it too much. It already looks like the top layer is lifting at the cuticles. You must cure each layer, the light does not penetrate that deep. If you leave it uncured, you risk chemical burn or severe allergy. Or the nail will just break, because the gel is soft. Cure the first layer, then don't go in with such a big bead, make it into two layers. Cure each layer 60sec if that is a led lamp. Then the top coat goes in for 30 sec, not 60, no need to expose the skin to uv light.

portuguese nail tech, here: Blair!! You did such a good job omghhkp!! The terminology was 100% correct. I can see you did so much research. And the cuticle prep was super impressive for someone with no training! Beutiful job ❤❤
@shrp99505 сағат бұрын
timing of this tutorial cannot be better because I just bought the opi gel nail kit with an LED lamp and my first attempt was such a fail the edges lifted and I peeled the gel off in a matter of 5 days

I am so happy you're getting sponsorships! Let's all collectively acknowledge that working a 9-5 and selling your soul to corporate america does not provide enough money to thrive esp in this economy. I hope the sponsorships allow you to feel less stressed about the wedding expenses and stuff:)

How easy is all this with your non dominant hand? Also if you want to put also color how does that work? Is it an extra step in the end? Or does that gel stuff come in other colors too?

Great tutorial! I use gel polish but need a stronger gel since mine come off pretty easily. Going to get some of the products and test it out. Seems pretty easy once you get the hang of it and probably faster than typical gel polish.

So nice! For health reasons, I recommend wearing a glove that has the fingertips missing. Then, when you put your hand under the UV lamp, your skin will be protected. They sell gloves specifically for this purpose.

Definitely use Door Dash a lot. Still figuring out our rhythm with the baby. We would only get Crumbl if we could convince our cat to push the order button. We also didn't have a car for almost a month, but delivery was there for us.

I wish I had the patience to do my own nails. I do get gel at the salon, and I will sometimes do my own nail art as accents. I also need my nails short, so I have to trim all the time.

Hi Blair 🩷 How long does it take you to do from start to finish? I want to try it but I have a toddler and I’m intimidated haha!
@juicystar077 сағат бұрын
the best part is you get breaks in between! the only part that really needs to be done in one sitting is the application of the gel and curing it. the whole thing takes me around an hour - but you could spread the steps out throughout the day and wrangle that toddler LOL
@susanamedina70737 сағат бұрын
@@juicystar07 omg okay that’s not bad at all… a friend of mine does her own gel mani too and she says hers takes like 3 hrs 🫠 idk what technique she uses but I’m like guuuuurl. I couldn’t do it! I’ll definitely try yours 🩷 thanks Blair!

My sad nakey nails hope to learn from this video! 😂 I used to paint my nails with regular polish quite often, but I’ve grown lazyyyy. I always feel like an at home gel mani would be best for me, just never knew where to start! ❤
@juicystar078 сағат бұрын
now you do! these are the same steps for using gel polish, you just replace the builder gel with a gel base (I like the lava brand like the top coat) then cure it, then do two coats of the gel color (curing in between) then the top coat!
