if you sit closer to the tree you will be farther away from the caller and concealed better , your buddy was way to close to the caller , the fox 's attention is on the caller and he's looking right at you

Reminds me of my youth. Lived on a farm there until I was 16. Only coyote I ever shot was with a .22 lr at about 75 yards. You know the ground freezes 2 feet deep by Feb. -42 keeps the riff raff out.

I still don't understand why in this day and age where the wild life is becoming less and less in North America, there is a need to kill wild life. Unless there was an out of control population of coyotes, there is no need to kill these animals that help control other smaller animals, such as raccoons, rabbits and rats. Go kill Rats if any.
