Watching this one for the first time and havent gotten to the verdict but im gonna go with the sega genesis winning this one. The snes version was such a letdown in regards to gameplay.

Insinuating that a person has lineage with the nazis since background is German is racist but since it's directed at white dude not racist. Got it. Gotta love rules for thy not for I - mentality! The majority of Americans with German backgrounds can be traced back to before World War 1. Good example being Brad Pitt's character in "Fury." They never really explained fully why he speaks and understands German but I can wager that his family emigrated to the U.S. in the 1800s as farmers. It gives his character extra motivation to hate nazis since they were making legitimate Germans look bad. Imagine how pissed he'd be. I know it's all in good fun, but consider how it would sound if you came up with an equally borderline racist assumption about any other nationality or ethnicity? Say, insinuating that I Chinese person's family had ties to communist party soldiers who committed atrocities ala Mao's orders when talking to someone who's family is from Taiwan. That's probably the closet equivalent to how offensive that was. Pretty lame just to get a laugh. Cringe at best.

There is the blood spray finish on the Genesis. It's just very rare for some reason in that version. Also, less blood compared to the Sega CD.

It's true of a lot of effects you criticize but the water effects *especially* in genesis games are pretty much always designed with the bloom and light bleeding of a crt jn mind. That "static" on a 90s tv would look as good or better than the snes overlay.

I'm sorry the SNES version is inferior to the Genesis version in every way. And it's ugly as sin to boot. There's NOTHING in it thats from the movie except Ivan Ooze. SNES is undoubtably amazing but in terms of these two games? Graphics, music, presentation is all Genesis
