What do you do in situations where the abs light just stays on? And is not giving a blink code, but just remains on

Good video man. I work on school buses and we constantly go thru brakes, slack adjusters and S-cams. Good info. I like how you mentioned to use a tool to check the play on the S-cam. We take apart the brake and do the check on the S-cam inside the brake assembly. I never thought to do it on the slack adjuster end. Instead of taking the brake assembly apart you just take off the slack adjuster after you do your travel and adjustment test. Thanks. I'll pass the info to my shop mates. Thanks.

Normal brake application would only be 20 to 30 psi, any more than that psi would be a panic stop.Professonal drivers doing Normal downshifting, would very rarely apply more than 30 psi.

I have a damaged valve but am stuck in a small town. Is there a way to bypass the system to get it going to the next town for the correct replacement part?
@fleetrepairsolutions6372
@fleetrepairsolutions6372 Ай бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response... All depends on what is wrong with it. Is it leaking air from the damage? You can bypass the system by plugging the lines feeding the valve, (the line from the pressure protection valve and the line connected to the emergency supply) but with without parts like brass fittings you'll have to find some creative, non DOT approved ways to block air flow going to the valve.

While back I had the same problem when my team driver was on duty, he didn’t pay attention to the warning service light and the pressure built up in the axle then blew the cap window, drained the oil, Efed up the bearing, and I had to reweld the damaged spindle end and changed everything else involved. Now, on the other axle, I can hear a strong leaking sound from the system, and I know for sure there is a little bit of bubbling in the oil that I can see from the hub cap window, so I’m guessing it’s the same problem. Thanks to your video, I can better service the issue, but I thought you would check the connection of the supply line in the new hub for leaks before you bolt it back on. Thanks again, great upload. 👍

Sorry for the delayed response... FMVSS 121 states that the combined volume of all service reservoirs and supply reservoirs shall be at least 12 times the combined volume of all service brake chambers. So you should be able to make 12 brake applications from a fully charged tank.

@@peyton.c8399 I believe so... considering the wording is "the combined volume of all service and supply reservoirs. Also FMVSS 121 gives specific regulations just for trailers: "S5.2 Required equipment for trailers. Each trailer shall have the following equipment: S5.2.1 Reservoirs. One or more reservoirs to which the air is delivered from the towing vehicle. S5.2.1.1 The total volume of each service reservoir shall be at least eight times the combined volume of all service brake chambers serviced by that reservoir.

Could there have bn a possibility it could have been SV2?
@fleetrepairsolutions6372
@fleetrepairsolutions6372 4 ай бұрын
Doubtful. Given the symptoms SV1 had to be the issue. SV2 controls open and close, after oil is diverted from SV1. The fact that it was only going up and down told me the SV1 was not working.

Honestly I'm not sure what would cause that, but if air is coming out of that tube in the axle at any time there is a problem. Either a malfunctioning auto inflate hubcap or a leak in hose inside the axle feeding the hubcaps.

I have a very similar problem except mine leaks out of the backside of the prm body when the trailer brakes are not set. Supply valve closed, brakes disengaged and leaking out the backside of the prm
@fleetrepairsolutions6372
@fleetrepairsolutions6372 6 ай бұрын
Check the tire pressure at a few positions and see if the pressure is over the target pressure listed on the controller. The pressure relief module is designed to let air out of the tires is pressure is 10 psi over target. If you tire pressure is high, the PRM is doing it's job. But if tire pressure is normal I would suspect the PRM itself is bad, or the inflation/deflations pressures are set incorrectly, causing the system to constantly add, then relieve air pressure.

Will the ppv cause the brakes to not engage when pressing the brake pedal am having trouble with a flatbed not wanting to break when am pushing the pedal their is a delay
@fleetrepairsolutions6372
@fleetrepairsolutions6372 7 ай бұрын
The PPV shouldn't be causing any brake lag/delay issues. Assuming you've confirmed the tractor isn't the issue by testing on another trailer, I'd check all the plumbing for the service brakes from the blue glad hand to the service relay valve on your air tank. Look for any kinks or obstructions in the lines. If all lines look good, look for any mechanical reason for the delay ( seized S-cam bushings, worn/ inoperative slack adjusters ect.) If everything checks out I would look replacing your service relay valve.
