should this work with even the genmitsu units?

thanks for the comment and question. It would depend on how much clearance there is. most Genmitsu machines don't have a lot of clearance

Tinned wires don't go in screw terminals if there's any current load on them. That's how melted screw terminals happen. Bare copper or ferrules are the better way.

Thank you for the question and comment. It will be available this fall. I still have to work out the more stable joints but I don't think that will be too difficult. We will be doing a limited pre-order batch at a discounted price. Those who jump in early will be able to get them as we start final production ahead of the release. I will be releasing the details on that in the next week.

That is really cool. Would be neat if you could come up with an arrangement that presented the tool and nut/collet with enough clearance all the way around so a standard dust shoe could be present around it for load/unload. That would also keep the junk cleaned off during load/unload if the dust collector was on.

Hey Rapidchange very cool products! I do have one concern which I hope you could take away; Have you guys tested or asked to manufacturers of spindles whether it is ok for the longevity of the spindle if it torques the collets like that? Is it ok for the spindle to be stopped so quickly/under that stress? I can imagine the spindles were not meant for this use. But perhaps it is ok just like a normal hand drill, I dont know. Looking forward hearing from you. Greetings from Amsterdam

I have been using it on one machine for over 2 years. The spindle is not held in a stalled state so they don't heat up from the low RPM. I have not seen any evidence of the sudden stopping of the spindle causing any problems they also work with a brake resistor that is somehwat common place for spindles and that will stop the spindle instantly so I can't see why it would and have had no reports of spindles deteriorating. We started field testing a year ago last May so they have been in service for over a year now on a variety of machines.....

I don't think there is enough torque at low speed in that spindle to properly tighten the nut. I have two of them like that 4.5KW. Maybe works in plastic but aluminum or something tougher I don't think so

@@RapidChangeATC Ok fine, not going to ask details because it might be "proprietary". How do you handle the wear in the collet seat in the spindle? All that spinning until the collet is tight is rubbing on the collet seating and you have two hard parts, the collet and the seat

@RapidChangeATC

It should yes. If you email me I can help you figure it out. Generally there is an extra conductor in the cable that is not used or was used for fault protection in the past that needs to be wired in and possibly seme settings in t he VFD. the spindle in this video is a PWN: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aLSYi7Byup7aaGw.html

I want to buy one of your systems, but i am not sure how to wire my arduino uno with grbl to my vfd to get the reverse direction working. Only can do fwd currently. Holds me back of buying noe. I only have a single pin for output on grbl for my UNO (pin 13 - m3 - high, m4 - low). Was thinking if i could solve this with a 2 relais maybe. Signal to relais 1 wired normally closed, signal to relais 2 wited normally open. From relay I connect to fwd and ground on vfd. Relay 2 to reverse and gnd. Could this work? Also i am writing my own gcode modifier specifically for this goal to let it function with gbrl post processed in the gcode. If you are interested just get in touch!

Yes a two channel relay like this one should work. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E0NTPP4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie I wired it up to a DC motor spindle on a Genmitsu but switched it by a momentary switch by hand so I believe what you are saying is true. So far I do not have a European distributor but we do ship all over the world.
