I recently upgraded my 04 Tundra this past winter to run 33"s. For me, to go up to 35"s, without lockers. Probably looking at over $15K, just in parts. Long travel lower control arms, all new shocks/bumpstops, new, custom rear leafsprings, regearing, bigger brakes, new wheels/tires. The next step up. If I do it, I want to do it right.

I was just at our local Toyota dealership this morning buying some OEM parts. They had a new Tacoma Trailhunter on display in the showroom. The ZR2 Bison is a nicer truck. They also had an older, 90's, semi restored Landcruiser on display. Still pretty much stock, a few nicks and dings. Walking around the Trailhunter, just me, I push on the body panels to see how much they flex. Sheet metal seems to be a precious commodity today. That old Landcruiser was stout!!! The Trailhunter bumpers are plastic. 33" tires. I don't think they have true lockers, more electronic traction control. 4 cyl Hybrid.

Congrats on the purchase. It’s quite the truck. I’ve gotten used to not being able to see out of the back of my Jeep, so the tire actually doesn’t really bother me, yet. But maybe one day I’ll look into that mirror/camera…the main thing I need to figure out is a phone holder. 😂

I have an 04, First Gen Tundra with a 4.7 L V8. 3 1/2" lift. Custom steel bumpers, 10K winch. Bilstein 6112s on the front, 5160's on the back. 20 years old. 33" tires on Method wheels. Trying to find parts. The cool thing is, these old, first gen Tundras are now becoming popular. A 4.7 L V8 in a chassis the size of a new Taco. 04 First Gen Extended cab. I pulled out the rear seat, 50 qt fridge, Jackery 1500. With portable solar panels. Nobody could really sit back there anyway.

@@395jnky I think its a good option, but they still are big. So many campers now. Pacific Standard. The Project M would be good on a full sized truck. Topo Toppers, out of Ventura. The other end of the spectrum. They build a decent, useable product. Nothing fancy.

I'm a long time Toyota guy but if I was going to buy a new midsize truck right now, the ZR2 would be it. Stock with 35"s, steel bumpers. If you want to build a new 2024 Taco up to match, you void the factory warranty with all the new electronics/cameras. After market parts for the new Yotas have to be Toyota approved/certified now. Looking forward to seeing what kind of camper you put on it!!

Having all of this work covered by the warranty was a big deal for me. Still not sure what the build out is going to look like....Alu Cab? GFC? Maybe just a shell and use our Gazelle??? So many options, but not quite sure where we land...

@@395jnky I currently have a GFC. Only 275 lbs. So easy to set up and comfortable. Similar to your Ursa Minor. You can access from inside the bed without a ladder. Move the roof panels around and you can stand up and walk around inside the bed when its deployed. My GFC is now about a year old, took delivery in July last year. I have probably spent close to two months since then camping in it. Swapped the original GFC sleeping pads out for Hest Sleeping system pads. More comfortable than my bed at home. The new GFC V2 has a whole bunch of upgrades. Still shopping for an awning.

Nice truck with some nice options. Glad you’re keeping the Jeep! I’m a Jeep guy. Of course it’s going to be quieter than the JK. I have a 2024 Wrangler and it’s super quiet. But it’s never going to ride as smooth as IFS. I guess that’s the trade-off you have for doing hard-core trails and a wrangler. Looks like you moved over your personalized license plate so I’m assuming this is going to be your primary rig now on the channel. Did you hear coyote flat was on fire?

Yes, Bele isnt going anywhere. I love that Jeep and is in a leauge of her own...This new rig is just different. Having a 2016 Jeep Vs the new rig with IFS, I'm sure you can imagine the contrast....Both rigs will be featured on the channel going forward...obviously the new rig will be featured more than Bele for a while...but sooner or later Bele will be back in the lineup. I wasnt aware there is a fire up there right now. What a bummer.
