Just gotten back in to being on a bike in 20 years, and before then I only did it for two summers. This helps me so much. What is the absolute easiest resistance when going uphill? Biggest in the front and lowest in the back? Wont that create a weird curve to it?

@SportsShackEDM4 күн бұрын
@@dardandauti6356 sounds like cable stretch which is normal. You can unscrew the barrel adjuster(black knob) 1 or 2 times and that’ll tighten the cable. It can found usually where the derailleur is, and or in shifter itself. Hope that helps.

Thank you. I'll look for the video on how to change the microshift gears. I t ook my bike to the shop and thry switched from the twist gears to that. I don't like them. I just use my bike to ride up and down the street.😢

"NEVER change gears on an uphill" is what I needed to hear! I kept returning my brand new bike to the shop, berating the very patient dealer about selling me a dodgy bike because I kept jamming the gears. I owe him a huge apology (🙈). And massive gratitude to you on explaining the gear "ratio". 😊

Wish someone would explain why this advice makes sense. Most ppl, then, would end up getting off and walking the bike.

Thank you very much forthe video. It is so sueful especially for beginners. I do not plan to commute. I decided to start cycling after 46 years. Yes I last rode a bike 46 years ago. I have a bike and it has 21 gears. Can you please tell me what combination/s of the rear and from gears are optimal (for a beginner) for flat, uphill and downhill rides? Thanks for your help

So what about replacing parts?? lol how much to replace a “USA bottom bracket” pedal/ gear assembly?
@SportsShackEDM14 күн бұрын
@@stonerfreakvids big parts like that are usually halved in labour cost by that particular job. For an example. $20 install but normally but with Tune up. It’s $10 to install. But, typically a BB runs $20-25CAD and then labour to put it in. Under $50 anyway. Great question!

just a small correction, you *SHOULD* change your gears on an uphill, ideally you should see ahead and switch before you reach it, but when you're uphill on the highest gear, well, even if you're strong enough to handle it, it's not good to put that ammount of torque into that tiny gear, problem is, doing it incorrectly is a lot worse, so that's why everybody tells you not to. to safely do it, pedal really hard and get at least 2 seconds worth of momentum alone, then, stop putting a lot of force in the pedal, quickly switch gears and coast the pedal until it fully changes, ideally you should do it once for every gear, but it gets easier to do it as you shift down

what if i got 1 gear in front and 10 in back
@jaskopdx6342Ай бұрын
I take my dogs for runs and walks with my bike, I almost never have a reason to get out of 2nd front and I use from 2 to 6 in the rear gear. That's for all three bikes I have and they're all different size bikes. One has 21 speed, one has 15 and the third bike I believe has 18. It's rare to need to get out of middle gear.

I always keep the left shifter in the middle and the right shifter on the larger cogs because I live in a hilly town I never use the smaller gears I’m always going up a hill so I go from middle front gear to smaller front i never use the big front gear

wow, I just got a bike after 20 years of having one. And, the technology for biking has improved a lot. The bike I have has these two gears, and I would ride mostly on 4 & 5 on the right while I have the left on 3..I'm glad I ran across your video. I'm going to try keeping the left on 2 during today's bike ride..Hopefully, this explain why sometimes I hear the chain pop after changing gears. Also, I will try not to change gears when going uphill (when I bring the right gear down to make going uphill easier).

So..... What's the point in having gears in the first place? Why not just use a normal bike that doesn't have gears?
@ShiningCrystalxZАй бұрын
In short, the gears controls the load you have to pedal in order to speed up and increase the load on a flat ground or a downhill, or slowdown and less load to go up an uphill.
