I am having the same problem with the grid not show in the scene and I am using version 11 of Foundry. EDIT: OK just after I wrote this I was messing with it and discovered that the grid opacity needs to be turned up on the scene setting itself. Tactical Grid seems to disable the grid and uses the opacity for it in the scene setting.

Looking forward to moving to V12 soon as we get a few more big updates from the modding community. I wonder how mods like this and about face affect sequencer movements and animations. I might have to test that out.

@@clay_golem well the animate move function seems to treat the token as if it is actually moving. It's not just a copy and it can trigger things. So it seems possible whatever the code is telling it to create the move it might include the turning. I know that using rippers patrol mod if you use something like this they auto rotate so it might be the same.

Yeah, I guess it depend how the move is done in the background - anything that actually triggers a token 'move' rather than placing it in a new location, should activate both Auto-Rotate and About-Face. And therefore, would would seamlessly with Sequencer. But yes, time will tell.

In the current patch, it is counting certain Focus Spells as slotted spells in a created Focus Spell list. Has anyone found a fix or work around for this?

Hi. I've not looked at spells properly in V12, mainly because I know they're a little twitchy. I'm waiting for a couple of mods to update first, and then I'll do a video looking at them again, including spell templates, direct attacks, conditions, etc.

i've used the same solution for room labeling as the roll20 days - tiles/tokens with the text and/or numbers on 'em and make em invis.

I only needed them for the purpose of the video, so I wasn't skipping through the module in the other screen too much - I do TRY and be a little professional LOL But I personally would use the Journal Map pins thingy if I wanted them on there more permanently.

I have the same problem with text boxes, already reported. If you use squares or circles, and go to text property it works perfectly, but not with standard text boxes :S

Nice. I still prefer About Face because I use character art tokens and the directional indicators for things like sneak attack etc. But This one is good if you only use the top down tokens.

I've been using this for a while now. Great little mod but something to be aware of is if you are using the mod ridable you need to turn it off other wise the token you are riding on turns too. I found out the hard way when everyone mounted a boat and when I moved the boat it did all kinds of crazy stuff 🤣

Yes it does... for SOME things. But not all things. V12 has no "click here" option to trigger things, but MATTs does. And a lot of the V12 stuff CAN be done but you need to write a Macro for it - MATT has it as part of the drop-down selects, so it's MUCH easier right now. An example: using the V12 Regions, try and make a pit-trap. You'd need to write quite a complex macro to get it to target and do damage, play effects, etc. MATT that becomes really quite easy.

Just looking at those few little issues, and they're a simple fix. Where I had my tiles fade in to 60% Opaque, in V12 they're too transparent. Upping it to 90% pretty much fixed it. All working well now.

Great video as always. Still working my way from beginning but moving a bit slower since Im working on my Foundry a lot. It is now coming together very nicely. Been renaming maps all weekend to use in Mouilinette. 😅 At around 9:00 you were dragging Toblin from one folder to the next. I have quite a few folders and moving stuff between them is a big hassle. Do you know if there is an easier/quicker way? Cut and paste wont work. Maybe put the token in the game and drag it back to their new folder? Still not the most elegant solution so Im hoping there is a better one.

I'm only dragging them into Foundry folders to keep Foundry tidy - it doesn't move their location on the PC/Server. So if you're organising for Mouilinette, I'm afraid you're stuck with standard cut&paste into folders. For the Foundry folders, creating the Actors etc. in the correct folder to start with would be much better than my chaos.

Was this referring to one of the maps? It's a huge scale and is indeed a bit blurry - one of the first maps I made myself, and while it's a good map, it quality isn't great.

This one looks really promising, getting rid of grid might give players more freedom since I feel they tend to be stuck in the whole "action, bonus action, move x squares" and forget about being creative while playing. My only concern is how it deals with templates for spells (and opportunity attacks in case of gambit's premades), since they seem to be tied to the grid, did you test combat with spells?

No, didn't test with spells - spell templates are not quite working right now, and obviously there's no Gambit's in V12 yet for the AoO. However, I don't foresee any issues - the grid is still there in Foundry, it's just hidden, so Spells and AoO would still be able to use it without issue.

@@clay_golem OH, I'm running a lot of stuff! The whole automation stuff with MidiQOL, DFreds, Ripper's free stuff, Monk's, map packs, audio packs and a whole bunch of minor improvements. I'm currently at 97 active modules and 30+ inactive that use for prepping or testing. I should probably dial it down a bit xD

Thanks for checking this out! It looks great, I'm excited to add it to my list. I will say I dont think that error was right? The error was Red, so the Console should show a Red Error but the errors you were looking at were Yellow, which are Warnings not breaking Errors. You didn't really show the Ranged weapon part- if you mouse over your ranged attacks it shows the range for the weapons/spells!

@@clay_golem I think the actual error was further up the list because the errors listed looked like they were from other mods that need basic updates. They all loaded in around the same time so you would have needed to scroll up more till you found the associated error. Either way I'm sure it will be fixed soon.

Just beware when you are doing this kind of thing that you need to double check everything that it does because while it says it understands rulesets it really does not (it will just tell you it understands things because it is programmed to), and even for the rules it does understand it is wildly unreliable when it comes to basic arithmetic. It might not be so bad for 5e because of how dominant 5e is but it can't even reliably handle major systems like pathfinder 1/2e or Shadowrun 4/5e (personal experience). So while you might ask it for a CR X enemy it doesn't really understand CR and will just stick a bunch of high probability statements together that may end up making enemies far higher (or lower) danger than the CR they're supposed to be, as well as just spitting out abilities that don't exist some times or giving you figures that don't work out.

Yep, definitely "use with caution". The CR system is quite wonky anyway, so I would always check any results that I didn't manually do myself (especially if another DM has made a monster! - They're the worst 😆) . I think it's fair to say that AI is useful for generating ideas, monster concepts, adventure outlines and such, but it's only a prompt and should not be taken as "complete".

I 100% want to do an updated Traps video series, and potentially package them in a compendium, ready to go. BUT right now, we're very limited in V12 - almost all previous traps relied on Monk's Active Tile Triggers. Once that's updated, I'll definitely get into it. I don't doubt we can do traps using the new Regions stuff in V12, but it'll be Script/Macro based so I need more time to work that all out.

I used to use DragRuler, which was great to display movement speed in combat. I recently switched to ElevationRuler because it plays better with Gambits Premade and their automation for Attack of Opportunities. Another option I'm currently investigating is Tactical Grid

I tested the automation with the Argon HUD and physical attacks and spell attacks work well. What is not working is area of effect spells.

Good question. "Maintenance Mode" - not being actively worked on, however he is keeping it running. He did a minor update 43 minutes ago 😆 But that doesn't mean there will be a V12 conversion. I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens. If it doesn't convert over, I strongly suspect someone will fill that gap - JB2A sort of relies on it for smooth implementation.

Great video as usual. However have you tried to create a battlemap with ChatGPT, I am struggling, it keeps creating a scene rather than a top down 2D image of, well, a battlemap. I have tried DungeonDraft but it is so labour intensive. :-/

Oh have I tried... and gave up! It does NOT like doing top-down maps at all. I managed to force it, but it refused to do so without grid-lines. So I couldn't get a map that I could use. DungeonDraft was much quicker in the end. But yes, it is a time-consuming process. Really, just utilise those available through Forgotten Adventures, et al. There's SO many map resources, there will be something you like, somewhere. Only reason I don't just use FA maps, etc. is the issues with copyright that I need to cautious of in videos, and certainly anything I share.

I try to be really careful with how I use ChatGPT for FVTT stuff- especially for macros- but it can do some basic stuff surprisingly well. I think what i really like is taking a macro ive already made- and getting it to reformat some text to work in it so I dont have to modify a bunch of text by hand to fit it all into the macro a particular way. I also like throwing macros into it that i want to study, and I just ask ChatGPT to add comments to all the parts explaining what each thing is doing. And it just adds comments in to say "This is telling it which token is the target, this is saying which token the effect is coming from, this is telling you the animation file, this is checking the AC of the target-" Great for helping to learn what is what.

@@clay_golem oh yeah. Forgot to mention if you use dnd beyond you can homebrew your monsters there and use dndbeyond importer to import your homebrew monsters and eventually... I'm pretty sure Chris' premades med kit will also work on monster sheets and just fill in automated versions with a click or two!

Yep. It did a great job right off the bat, but you're correct that more training would improve results, and format it better - and can then be sucked in using Stat Block Importer to save time. Personally I am unlikely to use ChatGPT much, but wanted to show that it can be used that way.

Are you on Version 12? Chris' Premades is not yet updated to V12, so won't appear in your search list. They are working on it though!

Thank goodness!! 5e Statblock importer was updated! makes things a lot easier. Using ChatGPT 4o to convert stats has been great for me. I used it to convert old Dungeon Magazine adventure stats and traps to 5e. I am going to use it in my campaign to update Palace of the Silver Princess

Oh, and by the way. The AI tends to create the statblocks with little details that mess up the conversion into Foundry. If you give it an example with the right format, it will correct the errors and get the format right every time.

Absolutely, it needs to be trained more than just the 1 shot that I did, but still impressive that it got the job done so well. It's not something I will personally use moving forward, but wanted to show that it can be done for those that like to make their own entities.
