Hej!

What was the tire pressure? I have the 25mm and wondering if it can run on a bit of gravel and single track, don't expect it to be as comfortable as 32mm of course
@XLBikingInternational
@XLBikingInternational 11 ай бұрын
Hello! I’m a very heavy rider (140+ Kg) so I used almost the maximum recommended pressure (close to 120 psi) so I never had punctures since it basically “spat” the gravel out of the way😂 With time my confidence grew on them and I lowered the pressure to around 80-90 psi which was more comfortable. 25mm could be a very rough ride, I don’t know… The narrowest I used was 28. Needless to say I’m now running 45mm and the hype is real ❤ the lowest I’d go nowadays is 35 (my winter studded tires)

@@XLBikingInternationalover 140kg of weight and still you manage to reach over 40 km/h speed. Nice, big respect. I'm thinking about buying GP5000 All Season for my gravel. @@alien_n7990 those were the days…Thanks! I’m now running 45 mm Schwalbe G-one bite tires. The GP were good, but I think bigger tires are here to stay, even roadies are going bigger. If you’re going to ride 50/50 gravel and road, check the Schwalbe G-one Allaround. If 70% gravel and 30% road try the WTB Riddler or even Panaracer Gravel King. If more road than gravel check the Panaracer GK Slick or WTB tires with less aggressive profile.

@@XLBikingInternational currently I have WTB Riddler 700x37c, they are fine in terrain but as I said before I ride mostly on roads. I think these tires make me to put much more effort to reach over 30 km/h of speed. I have Gravelking SS in my mind but I heard it can lose traction on wet surface.

I love this tire! I rode my domane several times on a trail using this. No flat tires and able to absorb the shocks. The only time I got flat is when I rode in city. There’s a very small pin that able to penetrate between the treads. But what amaze me is, it was able to hold the inner tube since I only notice it the next day that the tire is flat. In my experience it didn't. They fit quite tight against the shoe. On the other hand we have it extremely cold here in Sweden and the snow sometimes does not stick as much. I gather it could be different in other parts of Europe or in the US. But, again, they do fit quite tight, so snow should not be a problem.

Hey thanks for sharing this video, I run a wheel set on my Domane with 32s and have been using the Continental Gatorskin hardshells and they were great but I didn't have a lot of confidence descending as I did with some other tyres. I've been looking to find a compromise between a road tyre and a gravel tyre as mostly I ride on the road but from time to time take shortcuts. I mostly want to avoid flat tyres so look for protection from cuts, punctures but grip would be good too. I've subbed to your channel too, great to find another channel that loves riding bikes.

I am currently injured recovering from a fractured leg and arm happened when a car hit me on my way to a morning group ride. This definitely takes the edge of road vibrations and even off road. Check the "Pro" version as well, as it is a tiny bit lighter and easier to mess around with and install. The good thing is that with different elastomers (provided in box) you can tweak the shock absorption in so many different ways! Any tips for a gravel bike for 150kg system weight?
@XLBikingInternational
@XLBikingInternational 3 жыл бұрын
Yes! But, first and foremost try contacting the manufacturers and making sure with them. Some insurance issues will prevent them from openly stating that the bikes have a higher system weight. I’d stay away from carbon except those from Open Cycles (I actually talked to the engineer there). Your, and mine, biggest concern will be the wheels, but 32 and 36 spokes should work fine (did for me, see the videos with the gravel “Nishiki Allroad”). Other than that Check Surly bikes, Pelago Bikes, All City Bikes, Velo Orange, Soma, Allebike (Sweden) only one in aluminum, all the others are steel. The ride of steel is great and problem-free. Oh, check Genesis bikes as well! Good luck!
@XLBikingInternational
@XLBikingInternational 2 жыл бұрын
With the previous answer in mind check the Surly lineup they’re great! Also, there’s a Spanish manufacturer called “Suba Cycles” that is making quality stuff! If you feel adventurous go for any metal frame bike of your choice and invest on a pair of handmade wheels with at least 32 spokes each (ideally 36). I’d steer away from carbon stuff

They can be setup tubeless, but make sure you read the descriptions. The tubeless should be the Ice Spiker Pro Tubeless Easy.
