Thats not how i replace an ecu on a vw mk4. You need to disconnect the battery on both the negative and positive and wait 10 seconds. Then unplug the ecu and plug the new one in. Then re hook up the battery terminals after the new ecu has been plugged in. If u dont un hook the battery terminals before plugging in the ecu u can arch flash the terminals on the ecu while plugging it back in and it can blow out something on the circuit board such as a resiator etc.

Nice one Dude! We use to have a highly tricked out 99 passat wagon 1.8t. Loved it. Just be sure you use the big 'diesel?' oversize oil filter to get an additional bit of oil. Those motors were recalled due to sludge and so you want the most oil possible. And change it super regularly. Great deal there can't wait to see what you do!!

Hi mate, looks good. I had the Diesel Geek one fitted a while. It also works well as well. My exsisting bushes were still good @ 190k. I was a bit concerned because I had Mercedes-Benz C230Kompressor years ago at 180k it went. Refused to engage into gear. Had to get it onto a flatbed. I had dripping in my footwear area from blocked drains. All I had to do was remove the wipers, watch posts on KZfaq for that because they just don't come off the normal way. Lift and or remove mounding forward of windshield. On driver's side you'll see the drain nipple by the firewall...squeeze and clean. I used windex. The passenger side has a cover over the windshield wipers motor, unclip at left and wiggle out. Now you have access to the nipple there, squeeze and clean; a whole lot of water ran out of mine. Although it sounds complicated it isn't, took me all of 45 minutes, most of which was wrestling to remove passenger side windshield wiper.
