Hey Matt, love following your journey with the mk5! It's coming up nicely. Just a quick question, I have a mk6r and now a mk5 gti and they both seem to make quite a loud chain slapping sound upon start up. It's only for a quick second when the engine turns over. Have you had any experience with this? Thanks in return!

Thanks my man! Yes chain noise is most likely chain stretch. Chain slapping sound should not be existent or very minimal if it's driven daily. You can test the chain stretch using VCDS, make sure the car is warm and up to temp before taking the readings. The video I used as a guide is from the decimal tenths guys, they are great with the MK5 stuff. It's the reason why I decided to change mine actually, my car was about 7-8 degrees out.

Thanks man, i changed my headlights on my audi a3, and it just keep beeping, but the lights works perfect! so it needed coding. but on the Golf mk4 it dont need it.

The MK4 didn't need coding correct. I think the newer models needed it.

I found the video because I want to put HID on my MK5 too. It is very helpful! One question. Where does the single wire attached to the connector connect to?

That wire can connect to the stalk to trigger the I built shutter function. You really don't need it as it has high beam seperate already. It's a nice option though. I just tied mine to the side.

Nah no need, I've set it and forget. Works wonders dn doesn't blind people unless yours is set too high.

I bought my d2s bulbs online wasn't OEM.

Did u have to code the ballast my friend? Xenon’s have to much problems but looks great tho

Yes coding of xenons was needed but not difficult with VCDS. Yes also Xenons have more things to troubleshoot, ballast or d2s bulb but finding replacement is east online on eBay or other stores. The ballast is shared across multiple platforms of cars and brands, same with the d2s bulbs. If you look at new cars with LEDs they never have just 1 bulb, they always have 2 minimum on each housing. I feel like LED isn't bright enough with 1 bulb each side when performing retrofitting.

Yes I indeed bought an adaptor for it. I believe it was an eBay spec one.

Hey mate just followed the steps for your video... however now the csr doesnt have parking lights. When i test the system with vcds nothi g happens same with turning to psrkers on the dial

strange! worked for me for sure. Try playing with some the of the vcds settings more. There's plenty to play with haha
