Imo, the beauty of the waza its on the ce1 mode, on the ce2 mode, it cant handle with the real deal.
@Pedalheadshow
@Pedalheadshow 20 күн бұрын
You got that right. The ce2w uses the mn3207 bbd chip known for the noisy ce3, bf2 and vb2 it is a 1024 stage bbd like the ce2’s mn3007. Except the mn3207 can manage lower Ms of delay to give you the faux ce1 512 stage bbd sound. The ce2 is great for classic sounds but lacks in its transparency to other chorus pedals or rack effects. Some would say the ce2 has a bit of a mid hump. But the ce2 also has a small impedance issue of rolling off high end. The ce2w doesn’t do that in either mode. But tbh they should have just released the waza chorus as a ce-3w because it’s more exact to that circuit. lol

So in the first place, the problem was when the pedal was powered with a battery? Did you try with a 12v or a 9v in daisy chain before swapping the caps? Just curious. Thanks!

I tested 12v, 9v dc adapters And battery. There was better response but still a lack of feedback repeats. That made the intensity knob unusable. Especially after listening to other sound demos of the dm-2.

No it’s called sweetened tuning. Like a chorus pedal. Guitar is an instrument of imperfections.. well at least a Gibson Les Paul is.. 😂 thanks for the tip Gabe, this was a video I made a long time ago. And a Les Paul sucks for tuning stability but I could have done a better job. If I tuned the guitar would that have satisfied your every need want and desire for this video. Gabe, you are my only hope at helping me run a successfully random KZfaq channel that guitarists 30+ seem to dig. How can I be relevant in society if I can’t tune my guitar for a KZfaq channel for people to see and hear… but most important they must see with their ears. So I guess tuning to 440 Hz and running antares auto tune on my guitar track but that might pose an issue causing the guitar to break in half or something.. anyways Gabe , A+ feedback i do check my tuning every chance i get to where i feel it’s necessary. I’ll admit it I run my guitar and my dialog in every video through auto tune because I don’t want to hurt feelings or hurt the image of the idea Im trying to have listener ya know, see with their ears n what not. Anywho any feedback is greatly appreciated, Gabe. Cause my videos need a professional touch and that what i think your comment resonated in me

Do the other ends of those three wires go to the corresponding lugs on the switch? I'd love to see a quick wiring diagram or schematic so I can try this at home if possible please
@Pedalheadshow
@Pedalheadshow Ай бұрын
It’s an on off on switch Middle lug of the switch goes to one point of the capacitor doesn’t matter what side. Then the 2 capacitor values I believe it was .1uf and .022 uf Go to each of the other two lugs right and left of the middle lug of the switch. Those two capacitors are twisted together and soldered together. Then that conjunction gets soldered to a wire that goes to the other corresponding side of the capacitor on the board.

How does the pedal compare to the boss Super Chorus ? I need a Chorus for playing Rock cover tunes!
@Pedalheadshow
@Pedalheadshow Ай бұрын
Boss super chorus is great! In my opinion the berinnger will get you places, but it’s pales in comparison to the super chorus especially an analog pre 2001 super chorus. The stereo effect on the behrinnger didn’t fully mix out dry from wet. The eq was terrible, the buffer is worse. The yellow is hideous. The boss Super Chorus is the 4th best Boss Chorus , and the 2nd best stereo Chorus in my honest opinion. The best stereo Chorus that boss offers is the Boss Ce-2w Fresh, yet vintage tones. For mono chorus any will do. But the Boss Ch-1 is best for both due to its level control, eq, wet dry routing , and better buffer than the Ce2 and more headroom then the terrible Ce5

Theoretically speaking, from the actual aspect concerning electronics, there's supposed to be a very noticeable increase in electron flow because of the increased voltage which increases bandwidth and signal flow speed across the same unaltered circuit path; where resistance is the natural circuit impedance with 9v going but 7-8V are showing up at the pickups; with 2 pickups you'll need 18V, but in the same circuit 14-16V are showing up between the 2 pickups, so 2-3 9V batts will due..
@Pedalheadshow
@Pedalheadshow Ай бұрын
Theoretically you could be right. From personal experience it increased touch response , increased high end, brought more headroom to these compressed pups, and increased the overall output. Maybe it’s how fast each battery type could deliver voltage, maybe it’s in the 24 volts, maybe it’s magic, but tbh. Any passive pickups with stacked overdrives/boosts sound and feel way better.

Hi! Would it be possible to make a parallel path from in to out and add a mix pot say, 25k to add a mix control to blend in the effected signal? Can it be done that easy? I just did a test setup and it kinda worked, but I got some nasty oscillation at full mix.
@Pedalheadshow
@Pedalheadshow 3 ай бұрын
You could do it but you couldn’t switch back to stock. You might need to make your own clone and add a second jrc4558d to the out put like a Ibanez SC10. You can look at the boss Ch-1 schematic for some ideas maybe. I would put a 50k pot at R22 or R24 for giving you a blend for the chorus effect but I think that could effect the out put signal when the pedal is in bypass . then again.. you can look at the boss Ce2 and ce2b Schematics because that has a mix knob But to run in parallel means dry and wet effect blended together. So to answer your question. Get an fx loop pedal Clip offR21 Only gives you the wet signal of the ce-2 (triangle Vibrato) then use that effect with the check light always on. Because you kill your dry bypass signal. That’s why you use a fx loop pedal
@Pedalheadshow
@Pedalheadshow 3 ай бұрын
Then use that in conjunction with a clean signal. Thus giving you a parallel effect. This may or may not introduce clock noise im pretty sure it shouldn’t but remember you don’t have your usual ce2 you only have the wet so you can only have the effect on, so use a fx loop pedal or as I use an effect loop block in the helix that gives me send return and mix level for any separate unit I want to use with the helix.

Quick solution. Check the dc voltage and current of the dc Jack you’re using with a multimeter try combining 2 9v outs on your power supply with a voltage doubler cable. Then check the voltage and current with a multimeter to make sure you’re getting 18v and more than 300 ma of current. That does the job for me.

Why do so many reviews ruin their reviews by adding in other effects which defeats the whole purpose of a pedal demo.
@Pedalheadshow
@Pedalheadshow 5 ай бұрын
Creative ambiguity. Overdrive pedals are fantastic to stack. Just look at John Mayer or joe perry, or any guitarists rigs. Usually 9 / 10 pedal stacking is a thing. If a sound can be replicated using a klon clone , with a ts clone in front of it then go for it to show how the klon clone can make the sound. Honestly if people are looking for a dry version of a certain pedal into a di onto a track on Logic Pro or pro tools with no processing whatsoever then that person would be better off just buying the pedal and seeing if they personally like it. In this demo I used the klon by it self for the most part. It was 2nd in my chain of overdrive/distortions. Later on I switched on the zw44 which is an asymmetrical TS overdrive just to push the mids of the notaklön. Then for the heavy stuff I showed how the notaklön can sustain your mids beautifully into a Boss HM2 distortion post knotaklon. All the pedals in the notaklons line are true bypass. The hm-2 was on its own fx loop just if you were wondering. The knotaklon is a okay take on the klon centaur circuit. I found 1) the highs were very shrill always clipping my headphones, 2)the output was too high 3) The clean signal wasn’t maintained (due to a lack of a stacked pot for the gain pot) the mod was cool. It was a fun build ( like the Lego millennium falcon) but if you really want the klon Centaur quality, and faithful reproduction of a sought out circuit. The Klon KTR or the Ceriatone Centura is the way to go! Thanks for letting me share my thoughts. Pedal channels can be boring or interesting. Just gotta show how pedals cans be applied and that’s where their tone shines. No one that I know uses a centaur style pedal by itself the whole song. It’s a compatible overdrive.

Thanks for watching! After I completed this video I finished the job of swapping out all the electrolytic capacitors and my gosh did it ever make a difference this pedals repeats are lush, full and decay beautifully. It’s a real favourite of mine. I love having it on my board. Only having 300 Ms of max delays make it a little tricky to dial in to synchronize with other delays. I’m finding that if I set the Dm-2 to a ms amount that calculates to 16th notes I can use it to expand delay effects and warm up my signal. I think the other thing I’ll do is spray the input / output jacks with contact cleaner. That way the pedal signal isn’t compromised in any way.
@andy1023
@andy1023 5 ай бұрын
certainly having more control provides more nuance but it seems to me that the boss's rate knob was designed as if it were a delay knob. there is a harmony between the two knobs in ce2. On ibanez however you have to create your own sound. I had the chorus dod fx 65 also with three knobs but the boss always wins for me. In any case Ibanez is analogue, it fully reflects the boss style and is a good alternative if you can find it used at a good price. right now the bosses are very expensive.
