Yes!! Your reasons are all so good, and I agree with them all! The worldview thing is so important, and something I didn't use to think about. But all of the hours kids spend in instruction by others during school...this is a big deal to me. The relationship building is also such a good one. I know it's not always the case, but it's been such a blessing to have my kids grow up with each other, rather than separated in a school building all day!! Thanks for hosting the collab!

Thanks! I'm glad you could join. I'm super thankful for the relationships I have with my siblings. Homeschooling is not the only reason for that, but it is part of it.

I find my kids crying over independent work so I look into why!!! I didn’t understand why homeschooling was so much better till we started!!! We are an adventurous family and I’m able to speak to my older kids about cultures that are different than ours and our younger kids we don’t vist those places!!! When I was a pre school teacher and kids went into school the school didn’t want siblings together and that shocked me!!! The parents told us that they were expecting the kids not to talk to each other!!!

That's sad to me that they didn't want siblings interacting!

For me, it's worth it for my child's mental health! She did K-5 in public school and we couldn't take it anymore! Also, off topic but - what kind of mic do you use? MAN, your audio is so crisp and clear.
@journeyinthehome19 сағат бұрын
Haha. Thank you! I actually don't use a special mic. With this particular video, I forgot to turn off our dishwasher when recording and had terrible background noise. So I ended up using Enhance Speech from Adobe to clean it up. I hadn't done that before and it worked super well.

Sounds like you guys had a wonderful homeschool week! It’s been a little hard for me to juggle my chores and homeschooling as well. We started our new homeschool year last week. We’re slowly getting into a groove. Love the idea of a chore chart. I actually just implemented this with my kids as well. It has been such a great addition to the day. Thanks for sharing.❤

I only have one kid who does early school so as your kids get older you may prefer to start school later!!! Nothing wrong with doing bible time anytime of the day!!! Rick warren says the best time to read the Bible is wen you are yet ur best!!! Nothing wrong with doing less when you start!!! For chores I do what is useful for them!!! I want my kids to be prepared for adult life!!! I did nannying when I was younger and the older kids played with their younger siblings when the mum got breakfast ready and it helped her. I wasn’t there that early as she didn’t need a nanny till later in the day!!! She didn’t homeschool but I think the idea would work for homeschooling!!! My older kids love to read to their younger siblings!!!

Yeah, someday I might get to sleep a little later on a school day. :) And I'm hoping the younger/older kids entertaining each other works out.

We are huge Expo fans! I was gifted some cheap no-name ones a few years back and actually gagged because they smelled so bad/strongly. I couldn't even bring myself to donate them - they got chucked in the garbage!

I bought my Scotch/3M Thermal Laminator (just the basic, plain Jane grey one) off Amazon a couple years ago for like $25 or so. Love it. No issues whatsoever. We use Expo dry erase markers sometimes but actually prefer Expo's Vis-à-Vis *wet* erase markers because they don't stain like many dry erase colors tend to. They are fine tipped, by the way. I have yet to find cheaper dry or wet erase markers that are better than Expo. For us, it's worth the extra few bucks to splurge.

My biggest ‘must do’ to prep for the new school year is get our life routines (chores, schedules, etc) for the school year fully established BEFORE we start the full homeschool schedule in the fall. It’s almost impossible for me to establish a school routine AND life routines to go with it, simultaneously, after two months of camping, sleeping in, late nights, and all the other fun stuff that comes with summer 😊
