Unfortunately I'm not sure what your options are. If it were me I'd ask my insurance company to cover it with the uninsured motorist portion of my coverage. That would likely be declined. Then I'd likely have to pursue going after the person at fault even though they weren't covered by insurance.

it is strapped down to the tubes that spring up and down on the aluminum strips but the kayak itself doesn't "bounce". It's like it's sitting on shock absorbers but it's so light that it does move up and down if that makes sense.

They drift. Maybe like 5-10 seconds over a 6 hour shoot. I use it to get the footage aligned but I have to then use my sync claps to achieve perfect sync.

@@KayakFishingAddict oh joy. Thanks for letting me know, it was what I suspected, hence my question about it. On my GoPro I run a tentacle into it the whole time plus power (and use it for hours at a time) and update the timecode on each file from the audio in post but according to DJI the Action 4 can’t take power and mic at the same time so I’d have to keep swapping batteries every 80 mins. Not appealing

@@KayakFishingAddict oh right, that makes sense. It’s just splitting one USB cable into its components. So DJI is right that it can’t accept two inputs but this is really one input split into two plugs.

Congrats. I use the RODE Wireless Pro for my mic setup including the lav mic in the kit that I feed under my shirt. There are a few videos on my channel that may help you understand my setup. The general older GoPro video ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n7SmodNm2rSzlXk.html ) documents my old setup but the only difference now is that I use DJI OSMO Action 4's instead of GoPro's and the DJI remote instead of the GoPro remote, everything else is physically the same. The serious timecode bug video documents what I do to synchronize video from multiple cameras as well as my new audio setup ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/irOJbK1it72aomg.html ) and finally, the serious timecode bug fix video has my workaround for the serious timecode bug ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d71iZpmpqpncoac.html ) in case you start to use timecode.

oh haha I thought your boat nose was flipped my bad. Was wondering how the rods sit on the end without the paddle holders? would another paddle holder be a good idea wo keep the tip of the rod more stable?

I only use 1 per rod.

I don't think you'd need it. The tips of the rods usually rest against other tools I have in the front, like my fish grips, or just lay there without too much motion.

You should report a bug to DJI that timecode with pre-record doesn't work! I don't use pre-record. I use looping and am always recording. Looping keeps overwriting the loop until you stop recording....that's how I ensure I don't miss footage.

@@mrheng562loop mode achieves the same thing. At the end you only have clips that you’ve decided have action in them. You do that because you only stop recording once you’ve caught some action.

I use mode 5 which outputs timecode on both left and right channels on both TRRS and USB outputs.

It was written using the Davinci Resolve API, so no, it won’t work with Premier Pro.

After years of research, I thought that using a program called Syncaila could be easier than periodically matching the time code. Eventually, the metadata from which the file is generated was synchronized (setting the date of the device itself), making it easier to synchronize various devices, including Action 4. Good luck.👍

@@nexttome This functionality is now built into Davinci Resolve. It can use the audio tracks and synchronize the audio. The issue in my setup is that the scratch audio quality from various cameras on my kayak is impacted severely by wind and the direction I'm talking. My back camera is well behind me. Timecode works well in my scenario along with sync claps which are both loud and visual. Together they help me align the footage relatively quickly.
