The "milk float" description is a bit misleading, those of us with diesels can only dream of having the acceleration of an EV. As for the taxation, yes it seems like a dirty trick but the EVs are heavy and fast, I am sure they rip up the roads more than many ICE cars. I have been watching the transport select committee meeting on the 15th May 2024. This committee meeting was all about electric cars and the second hand car market as the second hand electric car market is stalling. It was found that the main reasons were that a great deal of second hand car dealers will not touch electric cars as they do not have the expertise in engineers and special equipment to service electric cars so they wouldn’t put electric cars on their forecourt for sale. Customers who were thinking of buying a second hand electric car were put off buying one due to the worry of the electric car battery condition as there is no UK wide standard to check the second hand electric car battery condition and and the second reason was the UK charging infrastructure.
