How is the broken ankle doing? Sometimes I get a young Katherine Hepburn vibe from Caitlin.

Great info about sharks, but one thing I learnt is Banner fish and Moorish Idols are remarkably similar!

They definitely look so similar until you get to know them a bit! One of my favourites 😁

Put a high end small deep water camera with a good or great battery pack on a whale shark … maybe that would help you all find out how or what they are up to in all kinds of situations and natural events 😁 I’m sure you all thought of that one
@ningaloocrewКүн бұрын
This is definitely something being worked on but it’s verrrrryy expensive to do, the housings for cameras to survive the pressure at hundreds of meters and the battery life is a massive drawback! Would be so cool though
@bearingbeaterКүн бұрын
Why do we not see any barnacles on the whalesharks, unlike the larger whales (proper)?
@ningaloocrewКүн бұрын
Mike touched on this when talking about the bacteria on the Whale Sharks skin but we’re not 100% certain! Shark skin is very different to whales (mammals) though, it’s actually made up of ‘dermal denticles’ which are essentially tooth-like scales so gives it the feeling of sandpaper, perhaps that could also have something to do with it! Great question :)

Hi crew, loved the video, I have a question for you. In Britain we don't get Whale Sharks probably because its to cold, but we do get our fair share of a fish called a Basking Shark which operates similar to the WSh, Are they related in any way?? Keep up the great work the pair of you do, All the best Kevin..
@ningaloocrewКүн бұрын
Hey Kevin, awesome we would love to see a Basking Shark! They aren’t related but do both eat plankton, so cool! Thanks for watching

Why mostly male juveniles, is there a reason why full grown ones don't come?
@ningaloocrewКүн бұрын
They grow much faster when they’re juveniles (and females grow more steadily) so need more nutrients. The risk of competition and predators at Ningaloo could potentially outweigh the benefit for more mature Whale Sharks coming to visit!

Interesting facts. Thankyou Christine. You three sound very knowledgeable ,,what with the various species; regulations and practices....I guess Craig's experience as a skipper and the two ladies academic and practical knowledge makes for a good team. And yes, Yindy cam would be a laugh but I suspect unusable wobbly footage as she is always tilting her head in that adorable way. Get well soon Craig and Foxy. How's the ankle healing?
