Thank you so much for this video! I've been having KZfaq audio problems for so long. Haven't been able to troubleshoot. But you're directing me to better solution. Thank you!

Thank you so much. You're the only channel that I feel I'm still learning from. Like I learn bits and bobs here and there but when you do one it's a bombshell. I started off watching you when I was a beginner and it seems like your tutorials have just kept up. Love your work thank you.

Hey Chadwick! Wanted to say thanks for this. I've done 2 projects now using this workflow and it is so intuitive for how my brain works. I can't imagine going back to the original way or even using stacked timelines again. This is the way! (the truth and the life) ;)

The only thing for me is my 24p timeline with 23.976 footage now being in a 23.976 timeline, there are dropped missing frames. Should everything just drag over and it will be fixed? I imagine do not extend, it would change the edit?

Hi Chadwick, I hope you can help me here: My CacheClip folder is empty and render cache is deactivated, but resolve is still always eating up my entire HDD space up (atm almost 1TB) until it cant even save the project anymore. I cant find any other cache or folder settings. So what is all that storage used for and how can I prevent it? Im on a M1 Studio Mac and all the working files are on external drives. After a restart its all back to normal, but I need to do a lot of single clip rendering and after about 1-2h it will always fail bc there is again no more space. All help is appreciated!

i solved this problem before but there is still a problem on mine , I'm in collaborative and it shows the right fps even when exporting but just the playback is off no matter what I change. i guess there is a hard to find bug on collaborative.

I'm having trouble working with multicam in my editing software. When I try to convert the timeline to multicam, all the video disappears, and I can't add anything to my timeline. Additionally, in the cut page, I only see 4 tracks, and they don't line up with the 2 camera setup I have. 2 camera angles.

We have no idea what you’re talking about… What the fuck is retracing? Why don’t you explain in detail instead of just skimming over the surface.

G Hub software is a nightmare. I've had it delete my profiles. And the UI is like having identical triplets expect you to know their names, at your own peril. It's awful.

You can save the UI layout by going to: workspace -> Layout Presets -> Save Prest. Then u can always go to workspace -> layout Presets and load the Preset u want

Is there any way to cut out all unneeded spacing from a dialogue recording at once? I end up with a lot of spacing between my breaths when dialoguing or when I start talking again from not talking for a second or 2. Is there a plug in to cut that out all at once from a timeline?

Hi @CreativeVideoTips - I can't fint out in any of the tutorials how to handle the material besides the video material: that is audio, music, graphics, images etc - should they also be "proxies" in order to sync to the cloud? Sincerely
@sanssoleilfilm7 күн бұрын
what about other media files besides video: graphics, audio, music etc. - do you turn that into proxies as well when you are working in the cloud?

Do you know if this works with the Speed Editor or Editor Keyboards? I couldn't get it working so suspect it's only designed for the colour panels but it's also very possible that I didn't set it up correctly!

Great tutorial. Thank you. I just started making videos for KZfaq, as well as using Resolve. My first four videos featured the raw, unmodified audio. I didn't know any better. Someone commented that I could stand to raise the volume a bit, which sent me down the whole Fairlight rabbit hole, and your video did an excellent job of helping me understand the tools available. I've still got tons to learn, and this tutorial was a great incremental step in building my knowledge base. Thank you!

I wish you would do an updated version of this, I am still having troubles with Davinci recognizing my crops and transforms. Not to mention it does not work with Sony Clips since there is still the media offline problem due to timecode problems. I dare you to do an update version FCPX Sony camera round trip vertical with stacked clips in FCPX... LOL, Thanks!

I want to be able to make a selection in timeline and have that show up in the transcript. Also, to select from the transcript and have that show up in the timeline so that I can delete out rather than cut in from a source. This is base functionality from my premiere pro workflow that I am trying to migrate. I don't want to go back, but this could be a deal breaker for me.

Nice video, clear and comprehensive, as usual from you (me great fan!) - but works only with recorders with dedicated timecode channels When you do have an audio recorder without a dedicated timecode channel (metadata) you have to take a few extra steps. I.e.Zoom H5, Tascam DR-44 WL or Zoom F3 are recorders having no extra channel for timecode metadata. So, the core problem is that these SW (daVinci, Premiere and Final Cut) are video cut SW and in the end an audio recording ain't a video clip. (Remark: I dislike when they always try to blame daVinci Resolve, only. As per my knowledge this is a known shortcoming of all (!) video cut software daVinci or Final Cut - and Premiere Pro ain't an exception, neither.) With these smaller recorders you have to use one of the audio channels for capturing the timecode. Zoom H5 or Tascam DR44 have 4 channels (or i.e. Zoom F3 has 6). So, you have to "abuse" one of the audio channels (preferably for recording the timecode. Usually, these recorders produce one file for stereo channel 1+2 and seperate files for channel 3 and 4. All 3 "channel-files" (1+2, 3 and 4) are absolutely in sync and have exact the same length. Basically, we have to produce a video clip with the audio recording. How to achieve this? Step 1: create an audio track and load audio recording (ch 3 or 4, depending where you 've recorded the timecode) Step 2: create a video track and load a photo (any photo or even a empty title will do it) Step 3: adjust the photo to the length of the audio track (begin and end) Step 4: render the thing as - let's call it - a "Helper Clip". (since we are digital, you won't loose audio information). The remaining audio recording (stereo ch 1+2) do have the same length as our newly produced "Helper Clip". Step 5: read in your (multi cam) video clips (as you pointed out in your video - incl. the "Helper Clip") Step 6: read in the audio stereo file (ch 1+2) at the start of the Helper Clip (should have exactly the same length like the "Helper Clip"). Step 7: mute the audio track from the "Helper Clip" Admitted, some extra steps - but, for an INDE it might be a temporary solution until one can afford a recorder with dedicated timecode. p.s.: I've suggested this process to daVinci Support - but, they did not come back on this. Anyway, would be cool to have a macro/plugin doing this automatically, wouldn't it?

Very informative! This probably is outside the scope of this video, but does DaVinci have a way to generate timecode audio as a new audio track created from the "already present" metadata timecode?

Call me “beginner plus.” 😊 I would be intermediate on consumer grade video editors, but DaVinci is SO much more complex! Your tutorials definitely provide excellent tips for constant improvement. Thanks!
