I'm a beginner. I now understand how to properly use qualche and alcuni. I do not understand when to use "qualche volta" or "a volta" or "talvolta" for "sometimes". Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
@ItalianTeacherValentina3 күн бұрын
"Qualche volta" and "A volte" both mean "some times". If you want to learn how to use "volta" correctly and different expressions with it, I have another dedicated video on the topic 😉: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d851lNdhqd_OgoE.html

@@ItalianTeacherValentina Grazie mille. So it's acceptable to use either interchangeably?

I'm wondering how to pronounce gli. By itself as the article it sounds (to me) like yee as in the expression "ye gods". Then in words like figlio I seem to hear an "L" like feelyo. Today I heard a native speaker in an Italian language tutorial making a sort of clearing-your-throat sound where the g in gli is, sort of chyi or maybe chli, where the cheapest is the clearing-the-throat part. Anyway, I'm a beginner planning on going to Rome a bit later this year and wanting to speak at least a little Italian when I'm there, so if you are planning on doing a video on gli, I'd be very interested. Subscribed btw :-)

Benvenuto! "gl" is a sound that doesn't exist in English, that's why it's so hard to pronounce. My trick for my students is to practice with a similar sound (like "million") and add a "g" before the "l". I have a dedicated lesson in my Italian 101 course (where I cover all the Italian pronunciation topic along with grammar, vocabulary and listening). Here's the link in case you want to check this program out: www.valentinastellatutor.com/how-to-enroll-in-the-italian-course-101/

Until I saw this video, I thought the term was "Non IO so" because I read it but didn't hear it, and I mistook the lower case "l" for an upper case "I", plus it just made sense to me as a native English speaker that it would be "Io" or "I". Funny. Your explanation was great. Also, your English is excellent. Ora Lo so! Grazie!
