love your work, one thing you might try is after you oil the handle (exclude the top to begin with and no steel wedges) soak just the head in a bucket of water for a few days, it will cause the wood to swell and really lock the head on. My grand father showed me this when i was young, he never even used wedges unless the head came loose later. I had to replace a handle he fitted once and it took longer to get old handle out than to fit the new one it was locked in so tight. The different color wood does look great though

I wasnt going to talk💩; "you want to know more about that, check out my other video", Sir, i checked it out, I learned nothing. I learned something actually "As expected" is something he says after we see the crack in the mold, or after the metal did shrink in areas; how am I supposed to know it was "as expected", he could be making that up. Why not just tell us earlier in the process; as expected my 🐴

interesting. Histoica Bronze was actually superior to early iron so im not surprised this held up on par with low quality stainless steel. The only reason the iron age caught on is iron is much more plentiful than the material to make bronze.

Really a beautiful job, although aluminum bronze appears soft. In antiquity, tin bronze was used, although I’m sure it was expensive, but apparently was nearly as hard as iron, if not steel. Iron was likely cheaper once it was learned how to smelt it, so replaced bronze.

Why not use regular bronze? Its about atomic structure and stuff that sticks between crystal and the atoms like carbon and iron. For steel there is cryogenic hardening where you just soak the thing in liquid nitrogen, I wonder if it would work on bronze.

Yeah this is kind of why Iron was such a big deal. Bronze was great but dulled easily.

I'm curious about other alloys for axe heads, like chromium moly(chro moly) or some titanium mix..not sure how well they would hold an edge...and what you might mix(or how to)with ti ..also the chance of it just breaking??? anyway...fun video, liked.

I mean.. There is a reason we progressed from the stone age, to the bronze age, and eventually into the iron age.. If bronze was superior, we never would have made the switch to iron and steel. So.. No testing needed. The Iron/Steel hatchet will be better in every situation.

there's a whole historical age called Bronze Age for a reason. Bronze works as tools and weapons alike. It's still soft compared to iron and steel, but it works.

How much lighter is your composite alloy axe head over a full steel axe head? Also, given that Bronze contains Tin as the alloying element, and your alloy does not, then perhaps instead of calling it Aluminium/Bronze you should invent a new name for your Copper/Aluminium alloy, ? Maybe Caluminium (Pronounced "KAL U MIN EE UM")?

Maple is about the worst choice possible for a striking tool haft. It has a tendency to shatter when stressed, and when it does so, it creates an explosion of sharp splinters that can be very dangerous. Yes, it looks nice, but you should replace that with hickory at the first opportunity.

Suggestion. Pour 90 degrees from where you did. That way, your front-back variable pour is along the long side of the casting and not across the short side.

It will be found possible to get more power out of a properly aligned and moving magnetic configuration than is put into the device. I have this from a good source, so dont give up on your playing and imagining using magnets. There is a lot left to be discovered from these forces and also don't minimize your own ability to intuit and discover new phenomena regarding these forces. Good luck man. It could be you that gets us to zero point! We are close!

I will make one to damascus standard and put against your Lego grade piece of crap see how you, Show us how it can shave a 9 inch deck spike( medium carbon steel) for it`s entire length without marking the blade( That's how i was judged by my macedonian teacher). If i had of shown him with piece of soft pine , He would have stopped teaching me. I have 9 inch bowie that does a better job than the chinese grade hatchet you made.

It will not survive , and why are using softwood at the start, How about you come to Australia and try that piece of rubbish on Ironbark gum tree`s. Aluminium has no tensile strength by itself , that why the covers on bikes contain nickel ,magnesium etc etc. Bronze also is not a strong material especially for violent work. I still cant over you using pine as if that's a test of strength, Maybe in Russia , but not inthe real world. I am a Boilermaker/Welder ticketed in 1985 Had to Pas DLI standard 4E. I have made many log splitters in my time. If you have a trade certificate, please post in chat the cert number and institute so i can have it taken of you. For bringing metal trades into disrepute bye posting rubbish..

Wow, I wish youtube showed me stuff like this more often. Totally randomly youtube has shown me two young guys with two amazing hobbies in a row. So amazing to see these things being done. The modern world and technology makes so many things possible now, but only a few in every generation will have the heart to truly take advantage of those opportunities. Well done, this was wonderful to watch. New subscriber.
