Hello, great infos! If a horizontal wind creates a vertical Aero Jump, does a vertical wind create a horizontal AJ (mountains shooting)?

Will the updated version of AB Mobile app have a decent option to apply a number of Targets to load with data so you can have ease of use with multi targets such as 8-10 stages of PRS matches ?

The new application will support target cards with up to 26 targets. Later this year, PRS specific features are also be in integrated.

Hello Brian! one question please : We often have areas where the wind only acts at certain points - like in a corridor. if the bullet flies through a wind corridor, will it maintain the new direction of flight or will it continue to follow the old direction of flight after it has completed the sideways drift. For example, if the bullet drifts 10inch (from 400-500m), does it hit the target at 1000m also 10inch offset? Or does it increase by square? I think it will take the old flight direction because it straightens the nose again and so the tail deceleration no longer has a sideways effect. is that right? Greetings from Germany! Micha

Shooter/target analysis of shot call/shot placement correlation is essential to improve works in progress. What’s surprising is some novice shooters are resistant to adjusting sights even when a bad trend is appearing, while other novice shooters adjust sights when the cause of misplaced shots is an issue about some inconsistency. The cure is coaching.

is the app that you are using "Kestrel LINK Ballistics"? I downloaded the app on my phone, do i have to have the Kestrel Weather Meter linked before i begin to even start adding a gun profile? only thing the app is showing a comment "Connect Device"...

I think Brian should have clarified the arrow analogy by giving the visual/mind image of the arrow being held horizontal (parallel) to the ground when "dropped". It would then have a pendulum affect and seek the stability Brian talked about. But unlike bullets arrows are built "weight forward of center" with helical fletchings to add spin for flight stabilization.
@hugtango
@hugtango Ай бұрын
Then a 7mm08 180 grains 2755fps would make sense. 1:9.5 stabilisation might be an issue. I don't have a 1:8 at the moment.

It would be interesting to see which one has more trips to the gunsmith for repairs or which one replaces barrels more often etc. I was taught that cleaning my weapon was part and parcel of gun safety and learning my weapon inside out. I was taught that it’s irresponsible not to clean and maintain my equipment. Cleaning and regular maintenance also gives me a heads up on potential hazards developing within my weapon and can prevent those ultimately dangerous outcomes from happening. I guess that’s part of an “Old School” upbringing. In fact, I will, before each trip to the range, run a brush through the barrel to inspect it and make sure that nothing has found its way into my weapon. Then do an overall inspection and occasionally add a drop or two of oil if it’s been awhile since I shot last. Besides, it always makes the next cleaning even easier.

What if you took a bullet and drilled it from the bottom up to about half way through then sealed the bottom so that it wouldn't create a void Wouldn't that move the center of gravity upwards?

No wonder why I was hitting very well at 1030 yards. After the rain came and went, temperatures started to rise again, and humidity picked up, but my rounds were missing very low. I thought high temps and high humidity meant less resistance. NOPE!!! I did not factor in air density. Literally, I went from 12 mills at 1030 yards to 12.5 mils. At 1230 - yards, I adjusted from 16.8 mils to 17.9 mils. For context, I am shooting a bergara b14, 308 win using 175gr federal gold medal match.

I’ve had a few SMK’s that had jackets which were so thin in spots as to be transparent. They did not make it to the 1000 yard target . But that was OK since I was just using them to warm up my barrel.

Won't it depend on the length of the barrel, and the size of the bullet?

In practice, primarily long range, I find that if just my big toe is a minuscule amount out of position for a muscularly relaxed position, where I am sensitive to natural point of aim, it will alter bullet impact. This makes me assume any condition between the rifle and ammunition which changes at each firing will also alter bullet impact and indeed it does. It’s why perfecting skills important to good shooting is necessary to win these days. The USAMU proves it. From a huge team of loaders, gunsmiths, and shooters, who all practice their profession to perfection every day, they win most competitions they enter. And in fact since they are so much better than the rest of us in some categories of shooting there’s a High Master Classification, essentially giving Master Class shooters who do not have the resources to compete with professionals an opportunity to still compete among peers.

Sage advice, made me remember buying a few cases of Remington.223 62 grain match ammunition about 23 years ago which had a big hollow point. It was too abrupt in fact to clear the lip of any of my 20 round magazines. I contacted Remington and talked with the designer of this “match” round. He said the round was designed to shoot from the Remington 700P and no testing of the round was done from the AR15 platform. Remington refunded me without any demand that I return remaining ammunition. My wonderment about this somewhat disappointing experience was why Remington promoted the Ammunition as “match” with no consideration or thought that people might buy it to shoot from an AR in service rifle competition, at that time, the only arena for Match .223.

They are the Boveda Humidity packs. They will last a long but it depends how well the container is sealed. You can "refresh" them for longer use by putting them near something moist or wet.

Thanks for your hard work with air rifles its very much appreciated more then you know. Also it would be awesome to have Matt Dubber back on after your findings he’s really the main one spearheading this whole thing working with FX and their barrels and Rolfe with his Gen 2 Javelin slugs also someone else that’s made a big splash is Thayne Simmons and his new Karma Airgun’s red panda it’s got a Super grade Chromoly Bull Barrel that weighs 7 pounds haha it’s won him 3 1st place victory’s in three of the biggest airgun competitions last year so I’d say somethings definitely up with that rifle thanks again Brian.

Question about aerodynamic jump. If you are shooting from a position where you are blocked from the wind at the muzzle will that negate the jump?
@AppliedBallisticsLLC
@AppliedBallisticsLLC 3 ай бұрын
If your muzzle/shooting position is sheltered from the wind and bullet first encounters a strong cross wind at greater than 10-30 yards from muzzle, the effects of AJ are impractically small and can be ignored.

Good vid. We're getting 22lr velocity with 40gr slugs in air rifles... and those are stock rifles without add-ons. It's been like that for a few years now. I have an AEA Challenger Pro in .22 that will easily hang with 22lr. Air rifles have really come a long way.
