I love both of these cars but as many have mentioned already, you would have to compare the lap time results with similar driving styles. Yes the NSX turned faster laps, however the results would eventually and dramatically turn around if this were a proper endurance length race as the NSX would burn up its tires and need to pit while the Ferrari could simply carry on much longer. Overdriving a car will not get you to the finish line either due to elevated risk of mechanical failure, overconsumption of fuel or a high probability of having an error occur that would put you off the track. Watch a Formula, Indycar, NASCAR or World Challenge Endurance race and notice they don't drift the corners like a rally car on gravel or snow.

TestaRossa is not really meant to be a track car, more like Grand Tourer with comfort for passengers. Also, it was heavy, 1700 kg, added with only 380 hp at not so high revving (6300 rpm) , softer suspension, & long gearing, clearly this is not a good car to be wrestling on track/circuit Meanwhile, NSX was built as a car to beat 328-348 & more track focused. Also it was lighter, much lighter (1360 kg), & chassis development input from the legendary Ayrton Senna, NSX just a better car for track, with faster cornering speed & shorter braking distance than TestaRossa. Clearly NSX won on track. On long straights, TestaRossa is faster, thats true, but in twistier track with lots of corner, NSX just something suited better.

Es curioso como los acomplejados japoneses hacían lo que sea para demostrar al mundo su tecnología. Esta claro que el piloto del Ferrari poco Ferrari había catado y que el otro tenía un NSX aparcado en la puerta de su casa. Vivo aquí en Japón y una cosa está claro. El testarossa es un mito, el nsx es un intento de honda de convencer al mundo de que tenían un coche mejor que el resto de mitos europeos. Que sea más rápido es la prueba del pensamiento de demostrar que tienen algo mejor. Pensamiento cuantitativo de un pueblo que no tiene ni idea de que es la pasión o el orgullo que respiraba Ferrari por aquella época. Algo que ellos nunca podrán entender. ¿Cual os compráis un Honda o un Ferrari...?

Nsx driver cheated on the drag race... early start and lined up ahead of the Testarossa... also Gan-san is NOT driving the Ferrari 10/10... there's a BMI where he drives the then new S2000 on the Nurburgring... he's basically trying to destroy the thing... also I think Tsukuba Circuit might favor a lighter car due to its layout...

You see how the Ferrari behaves on corners? Rear heavy and oversteering like it wants to be a Porsche? It was just no good. Gan san mentions during the race that the handling and body strength of the testarossa is not doing so well. And he is notorious for not giving a fk when racing. He is fiercely competitive, and just wants to win and goes all out. He went so far as to bully other presenters in races so they complained about it. So I dont think he was holding back.
japanese brilliance at its finest. but we must be fair. testarosssa was a car with techology of the mid 80s . nsx was 90s. and the japanese driver of the ferrari doesnt seem to push her to her limits... unlike the japanese driver of the nsx....hmmmm....

people saying ferrari driver didn't push as hard are actually wrong, infact nsx driver was way too much overdriving, which means nsx could've been more faster. u don't get 4 wheel slides at last corner without pushing the car to max, and that is exactly what i saw on ferrari onboard. gan-san was pushing both on entry and exit with minimal oversteer to maintain maximum forward thrust. ferrari is just not made for cornering, even just watching the onboard the ferrari seems like heavy boat compared to tight NSX.
