@-BuddyGuy4 жыл бұрын
For location sound the Sennheiser Mkh416 was developed in the 70s and is still the workhorse of professional recordists. Same with large dynamic mics, they're still the same technology. Microphones are still analog, wireless is still analog, preamps are still analog. You'll have a slightly lower noise floor overall now with modern professional equipment but hardly noticeable. Most of the significant differences in sound quality today come from what happens after the recording has taken place. In the case of this Testarossa, two things matter for the sound you hear. 1: How knowledgeable the recordist was about what type of mics to use and where to place them. 2: How the different tracks were used in the mix in post production. For example here you can hear quite a lot of additional engine bay noise when the engine returns to idle (pulleys, valves etc.). So the revving you hear is probably coming from near the intake, to get the induction note. There should be a mic right next to the exhaust as well and potentially they could have faded to that to use during idle. Nothing to do with the advances in equipment since the 90s.

The Testarossa was far from a lame car, but it is simply one of those few Ferrari's build with no race track purpose, but pure for showing off at mid- and hi speed cruising. Making it a GT car instead of a supersportscar imo. The NSX, while having a much smaller engine, was all about usage on track. the steering and braking of this car is extremely overenginered. Ad some hell of a VTEC kick off to the NSX and it was no wonder the Testarossa, despite it's 12 cilinders and massive engine displacement, never could keep up with the NSX on that twisty race cirquit. But they are both great cars, really, you can't brake the one or the other off.

I can assure all of you that Gan-San (Motoharu Kurosawa) is no slouch, he is an old man that will always push to the limit. Tsukuba is a small tight track that emphasizes on cornering speed with really short straights. The NSX also has 150 kg advantage on the Testarossa. And FYI, the NSX-R beat the 360 and the 355 in the same race at Fuji Speedway, which is a power circuit. So that shows you what potential the NSX has with even a measly 280hp.

No saturation of electronics and heavy computerization, no infotainment, just the car you want to drive to enjoy. Where are all the fun cars gone?

At 3:23, does anybody notice that the voice over when they started racing that actually sounded like Akira Kamiya from City Hunter?
@1plateclub8 жыл бұрын
Damn, I love both so damn much! I'll go with the NSX though. The testa and NSX both look stunning in person, but the NSX just has this vibe and presence. Whenever I think of it, I just imagine craftsmanship and ingenuity. Good on ya Honda and Acura.

This is not surprising. NSX is a sport car, on the other hand Testarossa is a GT car.

Ferrari vs Poor Man's Ferrari. I'd still take the Miami Vice mobile over the NSX, plus it reminds me of one of my favorite arcade games Outrun!
