Having just come in from my own garden where I hung a shade cloth for my poor overexposed tomatoes, I was surprised to hear your take on the subject! Ha!

We have also had to put up shade cloth... to prevent the afternoon sun from burning everything to a crisp. The SE is brutal in the summer, and many of our plants are not acclimated to the intensity!😥 On a good note, the peppers and eggplant are thriving!😂 Thanks for watching, and good luck with your own garden.❤

I was trying to comment just as you were wrapping up when it disappeared into other KZfaq videos. And I lost my comment. Let me begin again. 😂 As I was typing before being so rudely interrupted, brilliant! Wonderful as always, girls! But, there is so much information coming at us so quickly, it needs to be viewed multiple times in order to absorb it all, or at least as large a percentage of it as I can. Beautiful editing and writing. I have so much to learn, as I think I have over time forgotten so much about everything. 🤣 Thank your for educating us about our world! 😘

When we planted the dill garden and it began to flower, the black swallowtails immediately showed up to lay eggs. Secondarily, they discovered my old parsley plants...now they are all over them both! Good luck with your parsley/Swallowtail gardening!😁

Another wonderful and educational video, girls! 🌞 You did so much research and editing. Excellent job! I fear that one requires being watched many times with much note taking in order to glean all I can from it. I do remember some of its info from my Art History courses. Did the volcanic eruption affect Turner's paintings? They kinda look like after a volcano. Learning is such a marvelous and lifelong enterprise. Thank you for today's lesson! ❤

We are so glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for commenting. The analysis is that much of the artwork following volcanos contains higher levels of the red spectrum, including Turners, due to the actual higher level of visibility within the light.😊❤

@@verityhouseinspired9184 Have you tried using black strap molasses mixed with water as plant food? Use 1 cup of molasses to 1 gallon of water and use only cane molasses - preferably organic. This will provide micro nutrients along with carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Blessings

Wonderful! I so enjoy your videos? You and the pixies never cease to amaze me with all your industry and know-how. I learn things with each new video. How and when did you get to be so smart? 😊 And who are all those soil people in our ancestry? Well, I do know some. 🤣 I guess they needed to be able to grow food back in the day, or they wouldn't eat. Thank you for those lessons. Glad you're missing most of the cicada apocalypse. Sorry about that Derecho. But, as you said, it does make you more creative at surviving and coping. So proud of you all. 😍😘❤

Thank you, Auntie!❤ You are very encouraging, and we appreciate it... You may not have known you wanted to know so much about Periodical Cicadas...😂 Your dad regaled us with tales of helping his aunt in the garden during the depression and his green thumb was obvious. The other side of my family was heavy into orchards, grain, and beef as well as vegetable gardens... The Pixies fathers family all grew gardens as well his Dads family had flower fields and a flower shop...❤❤❤

@@verityhouseinspired9184 I hadn't heard about Dad helping Aunt Tina during the Great Depression. But, it sure sounds like him. Tina's (second) husband, Bob, did leave Dad their home when he passed. Tina didn't have kids and so, I think, loved seeing us. Dad's Dad, our grandfather, moved the family out to his ranch in San Bernardino during the Depression. I imagine that's where he and Uncle Howard became professional gardeners. I think it was a cherry orchard, too. Dad loved cherries. So do I. Years ago I was a matron of honor for my girlfriend's wedding in Hackensack, NJ, on my birthday in the hottest, horrible August, when the cicadas were deafeningly emerging. Made for an interesting backdrop, but no apocalypse. 😊

As I live in the mountains out west at 3000 feet, I am envious of how far ahead your garden is from my own which hasn’t even been planted yet. However, I take comfort that my number of pests is so insignificant, that generally whatever I DO manage to get into the ground is left in peace to come to maturity unmolested. So there’s that…. ☺

That is a huge blessing! Where we are, if we don't get a head start, we're really just planting for the insects!😂 It's a literal game of out witting and out playing the hordes of hungry bugs... 🤣😪 Where you live sounds ideal... we may be just a tiny bit jealous!❤

I had a few plants that weren’t doing well so I tried electroculture. Within a week the plants were doing well and growing new leaves that the insects munched on. After another week they excelled. I put a whole bunch of electroculture posts all over the garden and got a bumper crop last year. I have to say, for me, I did see a big difference, in most of my vegetables. I will do this again this season.
