Very nice. I just 3d printed one and I have to say it looks as good as this one. This one having the metal and functional elements like the bolt and mechanically movable stock is super cool. Thanks for the video even though I'm late to the party.

Great review. I am looking at adding a 3 channel power amp to my Yamaha A1080 for the front LCR stage. Got MA silver 300's and MA silver c250 centre. Comparing the BasX 3 vs XPA 3. I have read a few people saying the XPA is much better quality not just more power and worth the money and others saying its just more power and the BasX is plenty good enough. System is used about 70/30 movies/music. Room is fairly large open plan lounge/diner. I am looking for more punch as well as clarity. Any advice please?

I bought the A3 very shortly after it was released and I use it to drive the front 3 channels of a Yamaha Aventage 2060 (2016 model year) AVR. I use either Polk Audio A5 small towers or, most often, Polk Audio LSIm 703s as my fronts and the BIG Polk Audio RTI center channel. For 2 channel stereo, I have the Parasound New Classics Pre-amp/Dac with home theater by-pass. The upper Aventage series of AVRs are very solid, yet the A3 bumped the performance and improved the sound, especially the control over the bass and mid-range. I got the Aventage in summer 2017 and am Pleased with it and that it still works just fine, no need to buy a new one yet. When I do upgrade my home theater receiver, I will keep the A3 for the pre-outs in the next AVR. I have not been able to do side by side with other systems, but I did have ZERO buyer's remorse from any of my Emotiva products. I highly recommend the brand. Obviously, it is a value, bang for buck, brand with lots of happy customers. The A3 ROCKs in two channel stereo mode and matches up just great with the Parasound pre-amp.

If I switch the receiver to pure direct, will the receiver automatically shut off the center channel light and provide the higher 2-channel wattage of 150w per channel?

Nice video. I have recently put together a new home theatre system with a Marantz cinema 70s amp and monitor audio bronze speakers in a 5.1 setup. The left/ right speakers are the bronze 50 and centre speaker is the C150. Do you the A3 would be a good amp to power the front 3 speakers?

I'm a 2 channel guy. My 48-year-old Marantz 2252B died which powered my BOSE 901s series VI speakers. The local tech guy said it could take several months to repair it due to a backlog. So I bought Emotiva's PT1 pre-amp and A2 160-watt power amp. Having lived with this setup for 2 weeks now, when I get the Marantz back I'll be selling it. The Emotiva sound marries very well with the BOSE 901s. It's like a veil was lifted. And having 3X the power is a nice bonus. The tech works great with old tech.

I find this video a bit weird as I to have a BW speaker setup and maybe I would see an improvement with the Arendal speakers, but I don't have the issues that he seems to describe. I can''t be sure, but I did a listening test before buying my speakers and learned one important clue and that greatly affected the end sound. Simply put the BW speakers need the right amp to power them and they are power hungry too, oh, they play fine with less, but to really get them to show what they can do, you need a powerful amp. I have a solution that gives me 140 Watts pr channel, for the surround speakers, but I run the mains on a 200 watt block to really give them enough power to show what they are good for. And by doing that, most of the issues he describes vanishes. Sure the Arendal speakers might be the next step up, I wouldn't know, I just don't have the same issue with my BW speakers after getting them enough power. Oh, and one there thing that I learned during my BW speaker shopping even before buying my speakers, an marantz amp isn't a good match with BW speakers at all. The speakers will work just fine, but the sound will be strongly affected. It shouldn't, i know that, but it does. I know this thanks to a speaker listening test that a hifi shop arranged where they allowed you to match up different speakers with different amps. It was really weird hearing a sound different between something like a nad and yamaha and an marantz amp, using the same speakers, but it was clearly there. And one other thing that they showed me was that speakers might actually need a lot more power than you think to fully work. the floor BW speakers and larger likes more than 150 W pr channel. they work fine with less, but it affect the sound. There's also the fact that Marantz amps are good with music, but not the best amp for watching a movie, it's not bad, it's just better at music. And yes you need a good center speaker or the sound will be affected and the typical center speaker that BW wants you to use, with the typical range, isn't a good match at all. you need a bigger center speaker that uses the same elements as your mains just to get a good sound in the first place. Talk to your local seller of BW speaker and ask about a listening test where you can tray a bigger center speaker and a more better matched amp and I think you might just change your ideas about it all. Yet, I will admit that Arendal speakers might actually be very good, even better than I think.

I always use products where they are designed for. In my opinion everything works best that way. So: Consoles for gaming CD-player for cd's 4k - player for physical media and a 4k upscaling blu ray player for other region discs apple tv for streaming apps Dune HD for file playback. I understand not everyone want to spent space or money on seperate players etc, but as i said, something that is designed as a physical media player gives better performance then something that "also can do that" Xbox power consumption is way higher to and noise as well :)

Thanks, this is really helpful. I'm about 75% through 3D printing my own costume from an Etsy purchase. Sadly, the package I bought doesn't include any instructions for making it all wearable, nor does it include details about the neck seal and other 'soft' parts. I really appreciate this detailed tutorial, thanks so much.
