A defensive site. Nobody would want to live up on a knob far from water and the farm fields for any other reason. I doubt view was a factor other than wanting to see an enemy approach. You can't eat view. Because there were so few rooms in the fort they likely lived near to water and fields and this structure was a fall-back position they would move to when under attack. A lot of defensive structures were made at the same time the Navajo and Apache were moving in from the far north. Maybe there is a connection. Nice channel you have here. Keep an eye out for wiggle sticks in the brush and grass!

Thanks! I think you are right, I am sure this was a refuge in case of danger and attack. The was a lot of pottery and lithics inside and outside the ruin. That tiny arrowhead was awesome! Thanks for joining my adventure!

I had been to this site a couple of times and they may have collected water from the nearby big wash/deep canyon and also grown some crops near a wash that look flat and good spots. It is definitely not the driest site in this area, and these people must have known how to find and save water. It is a very cool site. Lots of pottery sherds, so it looks like they did live there for some time.

Hey Amigo, you never disappoint! Another fantastic adventure with quality narration, camera work, and absolute superb discovery!!! I will watch this again tomorrow when I can slow it down and enjoy every second. This site was definitely selected as defendable against the cannibals and slave traders of Chaco and its outlying colonies. I think this is now my favorite video!!! Thanks for all your hard work and presentations.

Have you heard of the archaeological informant Ken Austin from Prescott, AZ.? In the 70s and 80s, he flew over and identified about every fortified site in Coconino and Yavapai County from his private plane. I was given a copy of his huge archive by Dr. David Wilcox from the Museum of Arizona, so I could get a handle on the connection between the Prescott Culture and the Hohokam and report back. we found the connection and quite a bit more. After we mapped one of the sites you showed in the video, I realized that we were looking at a partially fortified trade route, intensive workshops, and a distribution point for the Pacific shell trade and Mojave Desert turquoise from Halloran Springs, Ca., and Kingman, Az., going in every cardinal direction.

That is amazing! I assume he mapped all these sights if he was flying around a hundred mile radius. I love reading that type of stuff! Each ruin in this video has its own video on my channel showing the adventure and discovery! Thanks for joining my adventures!

Wow! I can see how the water has swooshed through there. Amazing. That's a huge civilization. I hope it gets preserved. That was a very important site. Wow Again and Again. Holy Moley!!! This Is UNESCO-worthy. Thank You for showing us. I can't believe what I am seeing. Are those pyramids in the background at 7:02 and 7:58? Is it a Citadel or a castle? Is that a mote or just a double defense wall? This area was a large functional society with everything they needed. There are foundations on the plains. I'm not even halfway done yet. There are prehistoric ruins here too.

@@-JoinMyAdventures On out in Golden Spike country (transcontinental rail) I just about stepped on one, but just in the nick of time it let out a fantastic rattle. I jumped back what must of been 15 feet and my chest hurt for an hour. 1st off I had no idea I could jump that far and 2nd I think I had a small heart attack. Scared the hell out of me. That snake came crawling out of the grass and must have been five feet long and thick, absolute huge monster. In any event, thanks for sharing and great video.

Several ball courts have been found in the V.V. I have no evidence. Such a monumental structure probably was a gathering place. The flat at the base begs for a gaming field. I hope to return there in cooler weather. Perhaps GPR and a university would tell. I can only speculate.
