My chow was the first dog I ever had. Got him about a year and a half after I moved out of my parents house. He was the most gentle dog ever. Stubborn yes, but still so easy to train. The fact that they hate being dirty made him very easy to housetrain too. The only things I struggled a bit with was getting him to walk properly on a leash, and to call him back. He listened when he wanted to 😂😅 The leash part did go very great for a while. I took him to a trainer so I could learn some techniques, and it actually worked. BUT.... Then he tore his ACL when he was two... And we couldn't take proper walks for nearly a year after that. So all the progress we made went away, and then he just didn't want to learn it again.. Sometimes he was great on walks, and others he was a complete nightmare. He ignored pretty much all other dogs and was very neutral when it came to that. But if he saw a rabbit or something that ran away from him, he actually cried if he wasn't allowed to follow 😂 He was kinda scared of people, and his first instinct was to run away or hide. He really was all bark and no bite. When people came to our home, he followed them around barking for like 5 minutes, so that wasn't very fun. But then he was chill, keeping his distance. But when he had met someone a few times, they became besties. I always said that when you were allowed access to touch the ears, you were friends for life. Once they could do that, he never barked at you again, and you could instantly pet him with no hesitation from his part. Vets absolutely loved him, and he always loved them the instant they met. It was always so wonderful to see. Same with our groomer. They were just instantly accepted, and they all said that he was the kindest chow they had ever met. Which was very good, because he met a lot of vets... Sadly, I had to put him to sleep just two months before his 5th birthday.. He suffered an acute spinal hernia, and within two hours he went from walking normally to being paralyzed from under his shoulder blades down.. By the time we got to a vet (it was a sunday afternoon), it had progressed to not only loosing mobility, but also all feeling. His hindlegs had also stippened up, and the part of the back that he did feel was so painful that not even morphine could help.. It was to the point where surgery wouldn't have helped either. So I had no choice but to let him go... I'm writing all of this now, because yesterday was exactly 5 years since his passing, and I still miss him so much.. But if that had never happened, he probably would be gone by now anyways. It's just sad that we didn't get to have those later years together.. If anyone has taken the time to read this, I really appreciate you. And I know that Teddy would've too ❤ Teddy always knew that I was anxious before I knew myself, and he always tried to distract me when it started. But he also felt when someone else tried to help me, and then he would thank them with a buff of his head and a kiss, no matter if he knew them or not. So that love is what Im sending to you. I truly hope you will have an amazing day ❤

I had a rescue from Mexico, she was mostly Chow and a little retriever. Beautiful dog, sweet personality, didn't really like kids, was independent and could be left alone with no problem. She didn't really like strangers until she got to know them. She loved other dogs and liked to socialize. She loved ladies and not so sure about men but that was because of her street life in Mexico. She was OK with my cat too and would have liked to be friends but my cat was not having it. They eventually started to sleep together and made friends. Everyone always thoughts she was a Toller because of her beautiful red coat. She was a wonderful companion.

About social skills. How bad is to stay small circle people around? I do not like people to try tag along especially strangers to ruin our day on the our lawn.

I had a cinnamon female chow chow. Her name was Sheba. She was a good dog, guarded the house. Some loser poisoned her. I do believe I know who poisoned her, hard to prove. She died last October 2022. I plan on buying another chow chow.

It is such a hard tune to sing, and it should not be. We all try to sing it several times a year. This version is much easier and sounds much better and easier for the masses to sing!!

I love the breed as it was a loyal and protective dog. Very family oriented. This breed needs an owner with a firm stance and may have some skin issues. Great dog to have.

That version's a bit sad at the end. Prefer the original as it's jauntier, with it's quirky up-down moves, and the the high notes at the times when the word 'to' is sung are fun to reach for, causing much jollity when many get it wrong when sung in a group.

Starting off with a major sixth is not easy for most people! (And if he played it on F major, he wouldn't have to strain his voice in a falsetto like he was doing on C major.) But I certainly like the lydian mode better in the original, which occurs right on the subdominant chord, the place where the melody descends after having reached the top note. But he was right, this top note in the original melody IS too high for most people. But his new high note is only just a whole tone below the original high note, so that still doesn't solve the problem-it's still too high. And remember that this new high note he's proposing is sung where we usually say the birthday celebrant's name, and so imagine how the song will be potentially "murdered" by non-singers!

If you remember only one thing, it should be start basically at the bottom end of your range for this song. Most people pitch this in the middle of their range, then either "change keys" accidentally or botch the high note on a terrible vowel. I love the idea, though.

Is this guy for real? Just because you leap up a fourth on "-day to" doesn't mean "to" gets special emphasis. It's the syllable "you" that gets the emphasis he demands, by arriving on the first beat of the next measure. Fischer ridicules this by singing "tooo-you, tooo-you," but that is not actually how the song goes. The way he sings it it's "to" that comes on the first beat, the opposite of what happens in the song. No wonder he feels called upon to improve what he ruined in the first place. Parallel example: Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Begins right away with a fourth leap on "hark the." Does that mean "the" gets special emphasis? Of course not. It's the next note, "he-" of herald that gets the full emphasis because it's on the first beat of the next measure.

These dogs are so loyal and protective of their families. They are perfect guard dogs and would risk their lives for you. They have a bad rap because people don’t know how to train dog and often use “alpha dominant/submissive” methods which the chow chow will not tolerate like some other breeds. Hitting your chow chow or forcing them to lay on their backs will result in an aggressive and unpredictable dog who will bite you. There is no such thing as a dominant dog or alpha hierarchy. Not even wolves live with alpha hierarchies. Wolves live in packs that are similar to human families. The “alphas” are actually the parents and everyone else is usually their offspring from previous litters. This how our dogs see us, as their parents. They look to you for guidance and want to be with you for companionship. Poor behavior in a dog is not dominance but just poor training. Chow chows are best friend dogs who want to be by your side and to protect you and their home. They are not dominant but territorial to strangers. I personally like chow chows who hate strangers as I want my chow to protect me and our home. I’m not a social person so if someone is at my door, it means trouble to me.

Mine just turned 3 months today, I read a comment that said chows house broke themselves. And I completely agree. His name is Teddy for obvious reasons lol. Teddy grams, Tedders, and Teddy Stewart. My dog looks at me like he wears glasses and has had the highest extent of education. I've never seen a dog look at me like they know they're smart. Anyways, he's the best, love this breed very much. Although if anybody knows how to make them less afraid of people when they reach to pet him on his head. He hates it. Will nibble bite if they try to,

We Love our Chow. He is a cat dog and loves his cuddles but when we first got him as a 6 month old puppy he was like the ice king hehe he didn't care for us until he decided he loved us. Chows Age like wine. Older they get the better they become. They are TRUE WATCH DOGS. They watch everything.. and despite popular belief, they are scared of strangers. They would much rather bark a thing, person or animal into submission than attack. One thing folks don't tell ya is that. Chows are often not liked by other dogs and are seen as a threat. I know from personal experience. Even so Little Bear has shown me that Chows are the breed for me. They aren't needy but do love your affection. Best way to gain their love and affection is to use affection as a reward instead of treats.

His melody is a very good melody, but he is incorrect about the emphasis being on “to” and not “you”. Yes it is a leap, but it’s also on a weak beat. The strength of beat 1 with the word “you” outweighs the strength of the jump on the word “to”. Starting on “la la so fi (raised 4 which is an accidental) so ti” is much harder for non musicians than starting “so so la so do ti ”. Octaves are fine because they’re octaves. And it falls to a nice cadence that is anticipatory, not sad. So, no. I do like his version, but he’s pointing out problems that don’t exist and everyone loves it because it picks at tradition.
@musodean
@musodean 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry but this guy has ruined the original melody and is talking nonsense. He asks questions like "why does it go up?" at 1:01; simple - because you're repeating the same line three times so the second one builds and the third one naturally wants to be the more dramatic and excitable one. And he's completely wrong about the word "to" being accented, it's no different in his version; the word "you" is still the emphasis in both versions as it's the downbeat of the next bar. Changing the note doesn't necessarily change the emphasis. It's funny as well that he thinks his is more singable yet can't sing either version as his version also goes to high for him 🤣😂.

If the octave leap is difficult then simply change the first note of the interval, like this (Key of C major): GGAGCB GGAGDC *EE*GECBA FFECDC. Just change the key To F or Eb and everyone will be able to sing it . There, fixed, that's not so hard to do. Also, the melody of Happy birthday is actually "Good morning to all", a song from 1893, and in countries like Portugal it even has longer lyrics so, perhaps you could change it’s lyrics.
