They have Turbo’s, I just took them off to run them up. A lot has happened in the last couple of years, so I haven’t had a chance to get back to this as I now have nowhere to work on them. But hopefully in time I’ll be back back at it

@@pilotboatrestoration1770 Ah ! That explains it !,,, We were based in the North East of Scotland 🏴 and were Volvo Penta agents from mid 70s through to end of 90s . We supplied and overhauled ( complete rebuilds ) from MD 40 s right up to 162 s . Fantastic engines with excellent reliability . Happy Days

@@dfluke3698 wow very good, there would have been a demand for that kind of work up there. I live beside Edinburgh now, it took us over a year to find a house! huge demand down here for housing and very expensive, although its starting to quiet down a little now. Hopefully if I can get access to the back garden and build a workshop I can get back to the warden engines 😊

These little Kubota 3 cylinder diesel pushrod engines are incredibly durable and robust and can survive a lot of abuse. They are used in many different industrial applications, mainly seen in the uk in various street sweeper suction/drive and self drive lawnmower application’s. In my experience they can survive an overheating at least twice before any head gasket work is required. They usually have the horn wired into the main wiring loom and sound when they overheat to warn the user of imitate danger. This has been a seriously unloved and abused engine to end up in this condition. The decompression valve on the cam is a quick start feature that is used when then engine is fitted to applications where a pull start is utilised instead of an electric start or as a fail safe back up whenever the electric start failed. Great video Ben and parts for these engines are readily available in the kubota dealer in island Magee

Thats interesting, thanks G 👍 You should hear her now 😊 we fitted it back in the boat on Wednesday. Ill be checking all the wiring in a couple weeks to make sure his alarms work. Ive noticed a number of the old engines in boats have handle cranking points on the front. I guess the pull starts would have been in the generators
