One thing for sure, Betty. You say you ain't a mechanic, but you sure ain't no ordinary woman (or man for that matter) either. You show the manual dexterity, foresight and skill when problem solving and repair that only someone trained in these matters or with years of experience could execute. You are great to watch, and I, too, have learned from you. ❤ from the UK

At this point you don't know if a valve is stuck open. We do know that none of the valves are stuck closed, because the engine turned easy with the tool you were using to turn the fly wheel. If a valve where stuck closed,( you would have had a hard time turning the fly wheel when the camshaft lob got to that stuck closed valve). I would let the WD-40 set in the cylinders till the starter arrives. Your on the right track. I wish I could be there to help you with this Onan engine. I used to work on before retiring. God Bless you and your Husband 🙏✝️💗

Shouldn't you still have compression. That's how I check compression on my motors is with the plugs out. Intake and exhaust valves still opens and closes.
@NotamechanicBetty18 күн бұрын
If I use a compression tester it would have compression because the tester would be keeping the air in the cylinder, but since it’s open no compression.,thanks for the comment 😊

Betty; back in the day Onan was the the engine. Believe it or not some of those Onan engine were made in Alabama about 50 miles from where I live. About 30 years ago they stopped and closed down. These engine were used in wilder like your working on. They were also put on generator for motor homes/RV. Betty the next time you change that oil/ all you need is a rubber tub that will fit on the end. My friend and I worked on meany of Onan engine in his shop. ( You can due it). God Bless you and your Husband 🙏✝️

@@NotamechanicBetty Thanks Betty. I hooked everything up this morning and like i expected the carbs draining from the drain. Sticky needles i suspect.. I've got to take them off and a part for a good cleaning check. Also there's no spark to the points so that has to be traced out. Any advise is always appreciated. Thanks.
