How does it compare to the Denim Micarta work knife? I am looking for a good paring knife. Thinking this would be good as it is VG-10 steel and Aluminum handles. But also thought the D.M. Work knife would be good also.

Suprised to not see an Opinel in here. Own a few "grandpa" knives myself (including my late grandfathers knife that he brought over from sicily, he died many year before I was born but I feel an odd connection through that knife)- but im more inclined to use an opinel over a buck 110 or a slipjoint.

Thanks for the video. I love history as well, especially Cival war period. I just purchased this! Can’t wait to get it. It will be on display in a shadow box in my office! Thank you. Bill

The title says it's a Buck collection and you mentioned it at the start. Was it necessary to say each one was a Buck? Nice collection anyway. The blade on 1 you referred to as a baby spey is a coping blade

Mr last name starts with r so I dig it on my dogleg jack and canoe. I can see how it is not for everyone. I hit all my traditional knives and scales with 5000 and then Flitz. Smooth as silk. Maybe sand the other bolsters at some point to match. Looks cleaner and smoothed out.

I don't like this concept of nail knives, and for a reason I don't understand myself, I don't like antlers on handles. But your channel caught my attention because of the relationship you have with your knives. From the way you talk about them and the respect you show towards them, I get a great feeling and I think you're a good person. I wish you all the best and many more amazing knives.

Growing up in farmland with Grandpa, I remember he always carry a Case pocketknife like the one you have in this video with bone finish but only it had two blades. Great memories! And I do have a Case knife like his, for Memorie kipping. Good video. 👍👍

That Camillus "Scout Knife" as you call it has a long and great history. The first one was made in 1957 and they were made every year (except 1962 officially) until 2006 when Camillus ceased operations and closed down. In 1961, the War Dept. / DoD did not renew the contract for 1962 production but, being a manufacturer Camillus started production each year in the fall of the previous model year so when they got the news, they had already mand numerous ones with the 1962 year. Those are selling for amounts in the high $100's some as high as $600.00 in good condition. The most collectables are 1957, 1962 and the final year, 2006.

Call me weird, but the only thing id change is getting rid of the matchstrike nailnicks on certain models. Like a folding hunter and the fish knife. Trying to clean bodily substances out of the tiny grooves if you use them for their intended purposes sucks.

I usually keep a trapper knife or a stockman, 1 of them flip open tactical knives, and a utility knife. Sometimes i sub out the flip out 1 for a fixed 3 1/2 inch skinning cleaver. I use different blades for different things

I just found an old hickory machete. It was rusted and the handle was covered in string and tape. But after I got all that off it’s one of the sharpest knives I have. Didn’t even need to sharpen it.

Cool looking mod!... Tobias is correct, the pins have acted as a heat sink or heat exchanger, absorbing heat away from the bone material keeping it from burning. SMKW can call this pattern ..."Match Strike Bone" :)

Thanks for bringing these fine ol' knives out for discussion. I own Bucks 300 Series knives from that time period and 2 Stockman pattern 301s made in Post Falls. I wish buck would return to the flat grind seen on the pre-86 production and would again produce the ( 4") Wrangler .

I would love it if you would put the Rough Ryder "Toad sticker/ Mellon tester" White smooth bone, through a test to see how well it will cut up Papaya and cantaloup and other fruit. Smokey Mt. Calls it a TOAD STICKER, Chicago Knife works calls it a Melon tester. No one on you tube is reviewing how well it performs. YOU are definitely the man to make it happen. Love the small Tooth pick. Great Video, Thank you.
