I got an Imperial KAMP King at a garage sale $2 in really good shape it’s from the 60’s I washed it, cleaned it up, used Flitz and it’s like new! Garage and Estate Sales you can find pocket knives. 👍🏻👊🏻

I love those covers I could never get tired of seeing them!!!! That’s ashame the blades are rubbin……. That’s always the gamble we take when buying them but most of us know that going into it……. All and all I’m still a fan of rough Ryder and if the blades weren’t rubbin so bad it would be a great camp knife!!!! Anyway take care I’ll catch up to you soon be well 😊

For me, the can opener is the most important part of a Camp knife. I personally carry a Swiss FIELD MASTER, I love it for everything in the campsite.

Another new knife available is the Cinnamon bone stag Bow Trapper 2425 single blade . Got mine 5 days ago very very happy with it , As a matter of fact I no longer look at Case knives .

I was thinking about picking up the bow trapper but I ended up getting the cattleman and cotton sampler. I wasn’t sure if the bow trapper was going to be one or two blades but now I know thanks to you!

There is no such thing as a trapper with a single blade, despite what they call it. A trapper MUST have a clip point and a skinning blade or it's a completely useless tool. I have no idea why some companies started calling single blade knives trappers. Just to make a bigger profit, I'd say, but they are not trappers.

James maybe you can explain why so many hunters use the Muskrat that has double clip blades as a Trap line skinning blade a favorite for many hunters for over a hundred + years ?

James The single blade Trapper knife became popular in the mid to late 20's .. It's never to late to learn something new .

I see that the rr kamp King still struggled to pop a beer ! Just like the last one they made , but still a beautiful looking tool, looks about the same size as the tiger strip camp knife

The cap lifter was also a dud on the black bone version. They had all this time to fix it and they didn't. That is RR in a nutshell: close but no cigar.

You’re right, I haven’t had much luck with Rough Ryder’s cap lifters either. You’d think it would be an easy fix

The older RR scout knives have cap lifters that work well. The RR tailgate trapper's cap lifter also works. Why they don't fix this is a puzzle.

Hi Mr. Barlow: A very nice knife. Rough Ryder gives you a lot for your money. They’d probably replace that one for you. Would the awl work as a phillips driver in an emergency?

At the price there isn't really much to lose. I would put the knife into a vise grip or clamp and tighten it down until the blade and cap lifter shifted

Rough Rider usually has much better quality control than that. I don't like the steel liners, and you should never trust Rough Rider when they say something is made from "Carbon" steel. When a knife is made from really, quality carbon steel, they name what the steel is. When it just says "carbon" steel it can be from a very, very cheap, poor carbon steel, or it can even be stainless steel. I really like Rough Rider knives, and I have quite a few, but they do make both low and high quality knives, and quality control can be lacking on some of the cheaper knives, and the blade material can be something other than what they claim.

major rubbing and even more so tools hitting against each other is an absolut NO GO even for a few bucks, reason for return, sorry but thats poor quality, though the knife looks nice. I rather accept gaps or scratches on the handle etc than tools being harmed, thats the purpose of the knife, flawless tools, everything else is second

Every tool still works and will forever. But I don't like blades rubbing, either. Rubbing blades are fairly common on Stockman models, but should never rub on a Kam,p King. This is a cheap knife, even for Rough Rider. In China, more than any other vcountry, you get what you pay fopr, and quality control always costs extra. When you buy a Rough Rider that has steel liners, you're buying the bottom on the barrel knives and quality control, as well as overall materials, suffers. Rough Rider makes some excellent knives, but you really do have to pick and choose to get the best ones.
